Recommend me a 50 inch HDTV for £500-£800

Hi all,
I need a new TV. Given that I don't want to spend more than Somewhere between £500 and £800 I've ruled out OLED. Not bothered about 4k - my amp doesn't support it anyway. Don't really watch films, just documentaries & box sets. Sound isn't important as I have a receiver and 5.1 set up to plug in.
The room is quite large but at the moment I'm thinking 50 inch as I'm not into TV's dominating a room. But it would take a 55 if needed.
I looked earlier this year when Richer Sounds were doing the Panasonic TX50EX750B for £800. Really liked the colours in HD mode. But that's no longer available.
I can still get the 700B for £500. It has inferior image processing but then again it's going to me miles better that my 10 year old LG.
What Hifi are recommending this Phillips for less that £500(!) https://www.whathifi.com/philips/50pus6272/review
Which I could actually get in 55 inch format for £600.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Buy a used 1080p OLED from a trusted seller on avforums.
Many came with 5 year warranty so will still have some warranty left as well.
I sold mine with 4 years warranty for £600 earlier in the year.
Still not seen any LCD beat it as an overall image, sure they go brighter, can do HDR and 4k etc., but there are still things the LCDs under £3000 can't do, and to me they are the things that ruin an image on a daily basis.

Thanks Gizzie, that's not a bad shout. I bought an amp from over there earlier this year that listed at £1,500 new but was mine for £300 and something.Many came with 5 year warranty so will still have some warranty left as well.

No; I just had to choose a TV & bracket last week so I could get the dimensions, mock everything up and do some measured drawings for the builder. He's now going to stud out the chimney breast, create 3 x recesses for the TV, centre speaker & amp and run all the cables.But thanks for the prompt - I'll see if I can get it ordered today so it comes before I move out of the current rental. I have a couple of storage options just need to get the timing right.
Ended up paying £750 at Argos.
Kicking myself for not just going with the £500 offer last week.
What held me back was that the house isn't ready, we're about to move about of the rental into a friend's empty house and my storage unit is rammed. Wasn't sure quite where to put it......
That and the fact that the fencers, sparks, flooring guys, painters and window installers have ell been in in the last week. And the kitchen was shipped in on Friday. Plus two neighbours are complaining about fencing and/or asking for changes and there's a drain problem from next door causing issues. And there are tree roots do deal with on the other side. The brick cleaning/pointing guys have been on site. And there's been the issue of a missed deadline for building up one of the chimney stacks for the log burner and a very pissed off stove installer
In short..there's a hell of a lot going on.

Make sure you set it up and test for banding and dirty screen effect before the exchange period.
I bought one of these for my old man and had to swap it as the banding was really bad.
He said he wasn't bothered by it at all. However, within an hour of me setting it all up and getting home I got a call to say there was a problem with the TV during football.
I was expecting to get there and him have turned some crap processing on but it was the banding he could see, the banding he wasn't bothered about 2 hours earlier.
The second unit was about as close to perfect as you can get for an LCD.

Bugger. Testing it in the next 30 days is going to be tricky. Full-on house move coming up at the end of this week then two weeks off. Then another house move.....I bought one of these for my old man and had to swap it as the banding was really bad.

Put a "5ire full field" jpeg on a usb stick to test it.
Then adjust the brightness up and down, easiest and quickest way.
Most of these are pretty good so don't worry, but best to test it just in case.

I then started unboxing it but realised I had no time to build it up then break it down and re-pack it so I just dropped it at the storage unit instead.
Will try and find the time over the weekend.
