We have a Sky Q box in the sitting room, and more or less directly above it is a minibox.

Most of the time they connect okay, but the engineer did say when he was installing it that we might need a booster. We live in a barn conversion and the floor/ceiling is quite thick.

My question is, do I need a Sky booster box, or will any plug in wifi booster work? There's a big difference in price!

The sky engineer set up a booster box when he set up sky Q and our sky Q box is only 10 meters from the router and through one set of doors! (Mini box same distance the other way).

Ask sky to bring one round for you.

Will they do that? It's been over a year since the install.

Could you not cable between or use a powerline adapter to run a network signal up to the mini box?

Can't cable between the two, walls are too thick.

When the engineer carried out the original install he should of run a mesh on the sky Q equipment to see how the connectivity between the Q boxes was looking - then installed a booster if necessary.

You can call sky and ask for a booster, they will charge you £70 for one.

If you PM your viewing card number I can check the mesh remotely and see how it looks. (I’m an engineer for sky btw)

Thanks for that, I'll do that when I'm home later.
