Hi,
looking for recommendations for a sub to replace a Kef Kube 1 that has decided to die. not sure on the budget as they seem to be a lot more expensive these days.
it will be plugged into a 4k bluray, TV and tivo box via a sony amp.

Cheers
Rich

I had a Kef sub that died. Shame as the Kef "eggs" are still doing sterling service.

I replaced it with a smaller REL unit, which has been working well for years since. I think it's similar to the T7/i unit they do now. It also takes a feed from the normal speaker out, as well as sub out to give a slightly better crossover.

Funnily enough, my Kube II died. There's plenty on the internet about it so will have a crack at fixing it as it seems a 55p transistor will do the job! In the event that I can't fix it, being a man and having been given an opportunity to go gadget shopping, I've been looking at these:

Yep, BK is the place to look. They used to make subs for REL but sell their own subs now for half the price of an REL equivalent.

If you can stretch to one with a 12" driver thats the sweet spot in term of price v performance.

Depends how much you want to spend and how bulky you want it.

XTZ make a range of subs which perform above their price point, given their relatively direct sales model. I have a 12.17 Edge model which is significantly better than the Paradigm Seismic it replaced (12" vs 10" driver to be fair).

I also have a 8.17 model which is in another league to the REL Quake it replaced.

I've mentioned this before but I used to have a BK Gemini II in gloss black which was fantastic and beautifully built too.

I flogged to my brother when skint and we've agreed for him to sell back to me.

Worth noting that they have B grade on ebay.

Had a bit more of a look last night, when the sub is plugged into the amp it hums, when disconnected it doesn't and if i touch the end of the cable it then hums again. This looks like an issue with the cable?
