Hello

We’re planning on re jigging our lounge layout. We have a co ax coming in to the outside wall. Once the lounge is rejigged this will be in completely the wrong place for the TV.

Aside from running the cable a flipping long way to get the tv to where we want it are there any other options? Is there such thing as a tv receiver which will then redistribute the signal from the co-ax to something plugged into the tv?

Thanks in advance!

Assuming you mean wirelessly then your search should be for "Wireless TV Transmitter and Receiver"

Run it within a trunk in the skirting board. Also useful for cat5 cabling etc.

I wouldn't have thought so, not one that would redistribute the full spectrum of frequencies that are coming down the co-ax. I believe the only transmitters/receivers available are ones that distribute a single audio+video signal i.e. it'd send the channel a receiver was tuned to receive from the co-ax plugged into which might not be quite you're after.

I'd look to re-route around the house, whether that be outside or inside if at all possible - you might be surprised how achievable it is for someone with the right tools (e.g. an electrician if not DIYing it) to route cables with minimal disruption and making good.

Problem with our skirting boards is probably no nails stuff to fix it (or chewing gum, knowing our builders), meaning big mess to replace probably taking plaster with it.

As an alternative if the above is not going to work.

B+Q flog it. Sticks above existing skirting and blends in. Well, enough for me.

Thank you all, having last year lime plastered and fitted new skirting I’m not up for drilling holes or putting new skirting in, just wondered if there is another option but seemingly not!

Running trunking isn’t an option either with a 17th century wobbly house...

I have a similar problem (without the lime plaster) and am looking at hiding 3mm cable under the edge of the carpet. Door thresholds may be a problem. Its in the post. I'll experiment next week, but may have to give up on the satellite and stick to terrestrial.

It doesn't sound easy to run internally so just pay a pro to come round and recable from the aerial down.

They are surprisingly cheap and will have a solution - they do this everyday.

Or run now TV as an app if a smart TV.

Rasberry Pi with a TV hat on it would (probably) work.

That trunking I mentioned, can also be run between the floor and the skirting, if suitable.

I have used that stuff and you really don't notice it.
