Help selecting 4K TV
Discussion
Coming to party late I know I'm surprised no one suggested an Ambilight TV, probably will be shot down
Not going to be top of the spec but in terms of easy viewing pleasure it's up there.
I think great quality picture once calibrated, but the ambilight just adds to experience. Not a gimmick to me.
I think I paid £430 for our 58" from Costco with 5yr warranty. I wouldn't have anything else.
Anyways just my tuppence

I mentioned the Philips earlier. Not going to be top of the spec but in terms of easy viewing pleasure it's up there.

Great sets, have to be careful on model and size as some IPS and some VA panels.

I had my xg9005 delivered yesterday it's the most annoying TV I've ever used
Haha, why? Trustmeimadoctor said:
The bloody apps! Can't have apps for BBC etc it's all under the Sony experience and you can't use itv C4 without youview but you can't use that without an Ariel and I don't have one!
You can sort out your home page, and there is a shortcut for the apps on the bottom of the screen you can add apps to as well. I plugged an aerial in for 30 seconds to get the apps to work. Many TVs are like this now with the apps.

Where exactly have you ordered it from as I can't find one online anywhere. I can find the XG, just not the XF.I need a new TV and this one could be ideal. Otherwise, it's save up a bit longer and buy the LG OLED 48CX.

Tried a length of coax out the window but no luck
It's shielded, so you need to get the core touching something that'll act as an antenna. All you've done is hung the cross section of the core out the window, so what 2mm squared?!
Just checked my Sky box and it's not HDR! FFS.
What are the main things that I should look for in a tv. Im struggling to get it!
Take these two, both 65inch, both 4k, both 60hz refresh rate, specs look the same. Ok, so one is ambilight- but why the £300 difference?

Sky q is barely 4k so lack of her isn't a surprise imho
I don't use the 4k on Sky.
I have it but never bother with it.
In fact, I actually find SDR better than quite a bit of HDR too.
HDR is set for 100nits, so cinema darkness, unless you sit in a pitch black room it is more often than not too dark for home viewing.
I think they are changing that moving forward though.

They should replace as part of an upgrade to UHD content - I amended mine very recently to add multi-room, UHD and roll my Netflix subs into Sky (also gaining UHD Netflix at the same time)Paid nominal amount for a new 2TB UHD main box plus a mini to plug into the plasma.
Note that Sky are a pain in the arse to get through to at the moment - there's a thread on here with some recent posts on costs and contact methods:

They're due to rock up to mine this Thursday, which is about 2 weeks after ordering
