So my trusty Monitor Audio ASB-2 has blown up - what next.

The Sennheiser looks wonderful but nowhere is discounting yet.

Any first hand recommendations ? IdeLly single unit but I could hide a sub behind the tv.

Sonos is the new player on the block with their Atmos arc! Doesn't need a sub woofer, looks lovely and does sound very good, but it does depend upon the source!

I like the Sony ST 5000 but this has a subwoofer. Easy to set up and sounds good but is somewhat wide.

The Yamaha 5600 is an epic sounder but it depends upon your ability to wall mount it not have it infant of the TV £900 and what a sound.

If money is no object and again you have the space the Sennheiser Ambeo is the best money can buy. Is vast, gives out a staggering Atmos sound but does require patience to set up and two people.

The Sonos beam is hard to beat pound for pound. Not the newest but easiest to set up, gives a great sound and connects to everything easily.

We have a Beam in family room and will probably put another in the lounge. Fine for our needs (make telly sound better) and fits well with all our other Sonos and Apple stuff

We’ve got a Sonos Beam as well which works brilliantly. I suspect the new Arc would be awesome

How do you NOT use the Soundbar if you have one? My one just turns in when I turn the TV on so I don't even think about it.

Samsung Q90r here, very pleased with it

I have the Bluesound sound bar and find it very good. It’s mounted to the TV using their stand.

Sounds like a vote against the Samsung then.

When I bought the Monitor Audio, there was a very nice chap on here that ran a hifi shop offered me a great discount - cannot remember him. Hope he is reading this!

Samsung have their new 2020 range coming soon, maybe worth a look. Like anything tech, set it up using the TV menus and make sure it has HDMI ARC for the best possible connections. Do you want a soundbar to be just for the TV, DVD, Blutooth or do you want it to be part of your home network? This is something worth thinking about with any budget.

Hi SimNugget, you found me.

We have already chatted, but how about these? https://www.klipsch.com/products/the-fives-powered...

A totally new aproach and alternative to a soundbar. Similar pricing to the ARC as well

Just signed up with Klipsch so will have them available at launch which are due next month. PH deals available as always.

They look stunning, havent heard them yet, but they are Klipsch so will sound good, I just love the idea of getting away from being forced down the soundbar route, especially with an HDMI ARC input.

Plus you can direct connect a turn-table to it
Plus you can connect a sub to it, but even better, when you do it turns on a little cross-over so the speaker amp works less hard.

Oh and madly it is Bi-Wired.

RRP - £800ish.

I got the bose 500 soundbar for £370. Currys priced matched to a shop I found online after some messing around.

Great bit of kit and you can incorporate wireless surround speakers and a sub to the system.

Chilly for June

I have the beam and really enjoy the flexibility of being able to add the two Sonos ones to give "real" surround sound. Haven't felt a need for a subwoofer.

One thing I found interesting was when I fed it a Blu-ray it really did go to another level compared to the compressed sound sky/Netflix throw at you.

Interesting, I was considering the Klipsch Bar 48 (or the upcoming Bar 54?) - I wonder how the sound compares for mostly TV and music and with limited space for the rear port (the would sit "inside" a wide TV stand - it costs quite a bit more, mind.
