Im looking at the above for the kitchen ceiling. Any experience or recommendation.

Loads available, our go-to have always been Monitor Audio for low to mid range in-ceiling performance.

Just so happens I have 8 left-over from a project that came in at a super-special volume price, if you are interested.

C165's - Perfect for background listening and in a kitchen, with all the hard surfaces your never going to get audiophile performance.

Also, it is highly recommended to add fire hoods and is a requirement on new builds now.

I fitted KEF's in the ceiling for a Dolby 7.1 system at home. Very pleased with them. Only regret with the system is having to surface mount the subwoofer on the wall.
Also a visit to Nexxia for the wall plates adds the finishing touch wink

I have had a pair of Monitor Audio 165’s in my kitchen for years, very happy with them. I recently added a 5’ active subwoofer which fills in the bottom end a little, it’s position on top of the washing machine isn’t ideal, it’s in the corner of the room, it’s a bit boomy standing at the sink but otherwise it’s a nice upgrade for not a lot of space/cash.

Another vote for Monitor audio. I had 3 rooms with kefs driven by sonos amps and had several tweeters go. Sonos or Kef couldn't explain it but i now have 5 roooms with MA's and they sound great, 5 years old too with zero issues.
