We had a lightning strike near by this morning.

Usual chaos ensued and everything came back eventually apart from the wireless receiver/ 2 channel amp for our LG 9.1 combined amp / Blu Ray system. This got fried (burnt inside the housing).

It’s 7 years old and a decent enough system for our needs & the part isn’t available any more.

Pretty gutted TBH but started looking at Soundbars.

Any experience of the Yamaha (review below)?

Can get it from Yamaha U.K. for just £472 delivered. Lots of inputs & easy set up really appeal & it’s very living room / wife friendly.

Cheers,

Simon

These things are very personal.
I've never been a fan of any of the pseudo surround bars.
Mostly because I like my TV speaker to do music as well and I don't think these type of units perform well on music.
Try to get a listen to one if you can and see how it works for you.

Indeed. Based on all the written reviews & what I watched on YT, I ordered one yesterday.

Still gutted about my LG system. I’ve emailed LG but no good newsfrown

Had a YSP soundbar for years, and it's still going strong (with a brief hiatus for a lightning strike, oddly enough).

Very convinced by the pseudo- soundbars, but its an effect generated by the setup routine, and the microphone placement is crucial. The effect works in other places in the room, but not quite as well.

Just an update on this. Really impressed.

Got Sky, a 4K fire stick & a Panasonic UHD Blu-Ray player all routed through it.

Connects to my new a Panasonic TV via ARC. Works a treat.

Can’t say I’m missing the rear speakers (yet). It’s witchcraft! It’s also very unobtrusive & wife friendly....lol
