So, moving house soon, and potentially looking to add to/tweak my Sonos setup. The new house has a wall-mounted audio system the old owner said may be taking, so I’m thinking of using the speaker gaps in the wall to fit either a couple of my Sonos 1s to make a surround sound with my Playbar and potentially replacing them in the upstairs bedroom and kitchen (where they are under-utilised currently) with the IKEA Symphonik ones (the bookcase ones, not the lamps).

Does anyone have these currently, and are they any good? Do the integrate with a (relatively) minor Sonos system well?

I’ve bought a single one to go into our garden room when it gets built. Currently in the lounge where we already have a Play:5 and a Beam.

I’m very impressed with the sound from it - it’s a bargain. Airplay 2 works really well with iPhone and iPad.

The SONOS App (we’re on the S1 version due to some older kit) treats it like any other SONOS speaker

Saw a tear down and the hardware is basically a Play:1 albeit with slightly different speakers.

That’s great to hear, and comforting. I’m thinking for just playing the radio in the kitchen and an upstairs bedroom they’d be great, and then that frees up my Play 1’s to either become the rear speakers in a lounge setup with my Playbar, or go into my office as a proper stereo.

Thanks.

I have a pair I bought in January, set up as speakers for an Apple TV, but we can also AirPlay to them.

Really like the sound, they’re my sole Sonos speakers, so nothing to compare to.

Only problem is they make the TV speakers sound so poor, I’m trying to find a way to afford a Sonos sound bar to go along with them.

The Playbar was the first piece of Sonos kit I bought when it was launched a few years back. I bought it with a bonus I got from a campaign my work were running, so it was cash that I wouldn't normally have spent on a something like that (I had my TV going through my original Denon audio system anyway, but my wife hated the visible wires), and so I started off on the slippery slope. I've just bought Play 1s since then as I am not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination, and my wife loves the simplicity of using the Sonos stuff, whether its her own playlists, or just having the radio on throughout the house on a Sunday morning. That's why I think the IKEA ones would be ideal to replace the Play 1s upstairs and in the kitchen, and then use them either as the rear speakers on a surround sound in the new lounge with the Playbar, or to put them in my new office as a pair of stereo speakers for when I want to listen to my music when I have the house to myself.

Thanks for all the replies. Very helpful, and just what I wanted to hear!

We have 3! Fantastic value for money, we also have a Play 1 and I can't really notice any difference in quality smile

I have a few Play's and liked the look of the IKEA thing, but I read that the sound wasn't as good, nice to hear from a real user.
