At the moment I’m watching the football on a 50” Pioneer Kuro, it’s 13 years old. All my mates tell me I need a bigger TV but I can’t bring myself to replace it.
Tell your mates they are free to club together and buy you one!I've got a 42GT30 which I bought about 10 years ago for £800.
It was relegated to the study about 18 months ago in favour of an LG 48" OLED but it still has a great picture even if the LG is much better.
It now gets used only for a few hours per week with a Roku box for Netflix, prime and YouTube and occasionally as an extended monitor for a PC.
Only annoyances are a high pitched electrical noise that's noticeable during quiet passages and the heat it gives off. It's like a radiator.

Pioneer PDP-433 mxe purchased in 2002 @ £3k! top end Japanese plasma at the time, was used in my cinema room for about 8yrs. Now in the garage.
Still working after 20yrs bar a power supply issue which was repaired for £100 approx 10hrs ago & still looks fantastic running 720 via component via high end dvd.

Yes, 55" Panasonic, cost £1500 new. Currently in the games room, picture quality is still excellent.
Same one I have.I paid £900 in John Lewis's Trafford Centre, Manchester, in 2010 I think it was.
As good now as the day I bought it.
But there again, it only get switched on, about once a week now.
Do they really use so much more electric than the LED ones ?

Pioneer 436XDE still in use here, 16yrs after purchase. Demoted to games room use, but still giving great service and a great picture.
(Sony OLED now does main duties. First screen I felt was worth the upgrade.
Same for me but my OLED is LG. (Sony OLED now does main duties. First screen I felt was worth the upgrade.
If the mains plug gets switched off on the Pioneer, the default date is 2005.
I've still got and use as my only telly my Viera 44ins bought in 2011.
Lovely warm picture and I've not seen any new tech that beats it.
I'll only replace it when/if it dies. I had a Sanyo CRT bought in the 80s that was still going strong 30 years later and a little black and white bought in the mid 70s that was still usable when I lent it to someone in the late 90s.

Yes - Pioneer 43" bought in 2005. Only recently I noticed that if it's been on for a while the middle top tends to loose a little bit of colour.
When it gets bad enough that it's no longer usable I'll change it for the exact spare one that I bought of the Bay of things for £50 which is in the loft.

I was in an electrical superstore at the weekend and strayed into the TV section (as you do).
I have to say the OLED and super duper wuper HD stock images/footage they were playing (everything from nature to a city tour to an athlete and movie just looked unreal (as in fake). The way everything moves and appears on these sets in the best HD scenario is just far too vivid, VR, suddenly rapid and animated/cartoon-like.
I can't quite describe it but I'm sure you know what I mean.

Add another name to the list :-) Panasonic 50", can't remember the exact model or age but at least 10 years old.
Love black being black, the Mrs is a fan of Dancing On Ice, Strictly Come Dancing etc and stuff like that really shows of the contrast between someone in black outfit and the bright lights behind them.
The power consumption is a bit of an issue but it goes days or even weeks at a time without being used so can live with it.
To be honest will be pretty miffed when it eventually dies - was a Richer Sounds clearance special and unless spending a small fortune I get the feeling that a modern LCD will be a let down in comparison?
