God Shuffled his Feet by the Crash Test Dummies is good, track 10 - The Psychic, is amazing on a good system.

And whilst it might not be everyone's cup of tea, albums by Shpongle are usually amazing. "Are you Shpongled" is very impressive.

That whole album is stunningly well produced. I was listening to Pull Up to The Bumper Baby yesterday for the best bass line thread.

I first bought that while on holiday in Cape Town. Driving around with the car horns sounding on Pull Up to the Bumper caught me out! A great recording, and an interesting backstory and studio.

Oh and Hotel California live performance on Hell Freezes Over is incredible with a top end system that includes a high quality sub. That background bass drum is immense.

And the Decemberists - The Crane Wife. Not too keen on some of the songs but tracks 1 and 9 (The Crane Wife 3 and then The Crane Wife 1&2) are pretty special.

After that track was used for almost every hifi demo of the 1990s, I can no longer listen to it! smile

Is that the mtv 94 version?

The Nightclubbing album is 96/24 which sounds great....

An album that always sounded great on vinyl is Sheffield Steel by Joe Cocker - there's a connect to Grace Jones because of Sly and Robbie featuring.

Nothing sounds quite like an 808 kick!

Speaking of the Beastie Boys - The In Sound From Way Out & The Mix up always sound fantastic, very natural sounding and well recorded.

Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock by Talk Talk

Woodface by Crowded House

Tchad Blake has done a load of Binaural recordings that sound incredible through a good set of cans

Chicken Skin Music by Ry Cooder

All Shellac albums

All Radiohead albums from OK Computer onwards

Random Access Memories by Daft Punk

Selected Ambient Works 85-92 by Aphex Twin

Extension of a Man by Donny Hathaway

Queen of the Wave by Pepe Deluxe

Bubbles by Yosi Horikawa is worth a try... it's like a speaker demo!
That is incredible.... just listened to it with my eyes closed and I swear those ping pong balls were bouncing on my desk
Blimey, that even sounds good on my laptop speakers.

This Rick Beato vid has many great mentions . . . nostalgic as a 50 year old.

Yeah, it's in Chris Blackwell's autobiography. Those tracks were played and recorded live. I do love a bit of proper music played by proper musicians using proper instruments in real time (albeit with a brilliant producer, sound engineer & post production).

I love a bit of Coleman Hawkins and Ben Webster. A lot of the Blue Note albums of the day were very well recorded - Miles Davis's Kind of Blue and Cannon Ball Adderley's Somethin' Else spring to mind.

One track I've recently rediscovered is Brotherhood of Man by Oscar Peterson and Clark Terry (its the 1st track on the album Oscar Peterson +1). It sounds amazing on headphones and on my home hifi. I'm planning to get my car speakers upgraded soon and that will be an interesting test track to see how much better the new speakers are.

I recall this is a Bob Ludwig mastered album - and sounds superb. Anything with Ludwig's name attached seems to sparkle.

This man knows of what he speaks! I urge you to check out this selection.

I have just run through the entire list and they are all superb - and I'm a picky sod.
