Has anyone tried the album Black Acid Soul by Lady Blackbird?

Sounds absolutely awesome on my SF Electa's.
The first track alone, on my TRIANGLE Comete 40th, through teh R2R tube buffer DAC it is seriously impressive. So much space and vocal texture for her voice.

Heart-Shaped Box (Cover) - Ulysses Owen Jr. & Generation Y - Musora Sessions

https://open.spotify.com/track/7emqPZdpJ5UG0kCVrvM...

This goes nuts - the musicianship skill is off the chart!

That is also great ^

I was watching a DMS video today and he mentioned this album, given it's seasonal, it's perfect for here and sounds great too:

I put Talking Heads - Live at WCOZ 77 on last night and it immediately made me sit up and take notice - stunning clarity for a live album recorded 48 years ago. One of the best-sounding live albums I've heard.
Holy fk, whatever the sound engineers did with recording and mastering that is absolute magic. It sounds incredible - the drums in particular sound so immediate, crisp and punchy. Stunning.

I’ve played and enjoyed a lot of music from this thread but this album in particular sounds remarkable…

I love the Give Me The Night album by George Benson and that’s him on the title trick, timeless perfection. I love these recordings of this era, 77-81, so warm.
I’ve got Banded Together after hearing the track Sunset Drivers, great song but it leaves you in no doubt it was made in the mid 80s.

Some more suggestions:

Sinne Eeg - Waiting for Dawn, e.g. 'My Treasure'

(and I know we've mentioned Dire Straits a lot already, but my god, how good is You and Your Friend from the album 'on every street'...)

I can't stop listening to Ride Across the River - there's so much going on. I love the opening lyrics too.

Good spot, still like a bit of Therapy? every now and then, but - as they have - I've aged a little bit so can appreciate some more 'gentle' stuff.
Also, haven't come across an album that struck as being exceptionally well mastered - but there's no lack of punch evidently biggrin

Brothers In Arms was the last album tracked on the custom Neve console in Air Montserrat. The console got sold to A&M in LA and was used on many hit records whilst there. It now resides in Subterranean Sound Studios in Toronto. If you watch the Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic (Police) video the console plays a big part in the video with Andy Summers dancing on it.

When I first worked for Rupert Neve the first job was a sub-mixer to fit in Air Montserrat’s new SSL console they had just bought so they kept a bit of the Neve sound. First to use it was Lamont Dozier on Boy George’s Sold album, the next one to use it was Neil Dorfsman (who had worked on Brothers In Arms)and Sting on Sting’s album Nothing Like The Sun, a great recorded album, Englishman In New York is such a fine recording.

That's interesting. That must have been quite a big ticket item to purchase and install back in the day.

I sat next to and chatted with George Martin on a flight many years ago - it was not long after Hurricane Hugo, which was devastating for Montserrat.

Yeah it must’ve been terrible for the island and on a smaller note losing the money brought in by having the studio there.
Me and Rupert’s son John delivered the sub-mixer to Air London, on Oxford Circus in them days and was shipped to Montserrat after checking no problems arose.
The last album cut on that hybrid console was Steel Wheels by the Rolling Stones. The console survived and now resides in Japan.
