Have to say, it is noticeably bigger than the 86 inch that was there before,
Woohoo....I was right. 35% bigger.
My dad bought a 4:3 Sony CRT TV which would have been around 26in in the late 80's to 1990. I remember mates coming round in awe of how big it was.

Was looking for a good comparison photo and couldn't find exactly what I wanted but the fact this photo makes a 32in TV look so small says something.

When I was at school, the coolest thing to have was the smallest portable telly for your bedroom. I'm sure I remember 2 inch screens with built in AM / LW radios My dad bought a 4:3 Sony CRT TV which would have been around 26in in the late 80's to 1990. This was what we had at the last house. TV was a 60 inch plasma and you can see the difference with the projector image superimposed over that when the screen dropped. Certainly made killing people on Call of Duty a bit easier

That looks fab, I'm struggling to convince the rest of the family painting everything black in the TV/projector room is a good idea. ILR I've been driving EVs for 10 years now and with family life trying to keep fit etc the virtual world is where I can get some escapism into the motoring world. Having a massive screen, and good sound setup makes the escapism feel that bit more real

Hope it’s a 10x10 meter room to carry the thatnoff.
With a 100" diag screen (which in cinematic terms isn't big) , you're looking at seating diastance of 1500mm (min) to 5900mm (max) with the idea location at 3000mm. I think my demo room has almost a 4m screen (anamorphic) and the room is not much wider.
You don't need anything like a 10m x 10m room ... in fact, to fill an image into that size of room would be serious money.
Sorry to re-hash this thread a little, but, at these sort of sizes (85 inch +) is a TV screen better or projector?
My 42 inch TV is after an upgrade, ever since I saw on the internet that from where I sit I should have a 90 inch screen.
I've got some space to fit a projector into the wall, and could put a pull down projector screen on the other side, or could just replace the existing TV with a massive screen.
Budget would be towards the lower end of that size, for the TV, if that makes any different. Also, as much as 4K, 8K etc might be great, I only have standard definition eyes (slightly short sighted), so 8K would be totally lost on me!
Finally, I already have a decent sound set up. In fact, there are 2, a HiFi system and a PA system, depending on if I want high quality TV sound, or just very loud music.
EDIT - just thinking, a TV would actually be a lot easier.... Would have to run cables round from one end of the room to the other for a projector. Doh!

I'm loving both the 100 inch new tv as a games room special event type thing and also the relocated 86 inch telly in the summer house as a general telly. However, we have a lot of rooms and there's a lot of space but even I'd concede that the 86 inch tv dominates the 6m x 5m summer house in a way that probably wouldn't be ideal in a normal room that had to function as a general room.
I previously found a dedicated cinema room with 4m screen and projector set-up to to awesome for one-off things but really wouldn't want a projector as my main viewing. Unless you are up to that sort of scale of things then the big telly is just so much easier and simpler to live with.

I love projection because of the size of image but a TV has far more flexibility in terms of installation and environment. On the back of this, because of the number of large format TV's now available, anything under 100" then really a TV also makes more financial sense. My advice would be to take a look in somewhere like John Lewis or Richer sounds and see what deals they have on 85" + TV's .... have a look if there any outgoing models due for replacement that are being sold off with a decent discount. Whilst I would always recommend OLED, see what the QLED etc screens look like in comparison (to you) and weigh those up cost wise.
