as stated earlier, I wouldn't recommend an outdoor projector.
I've tried and it just isn't dark enough in summer until quite late and then it gets cold and everyone has gone indoors.
Just get a TV

It's just not an option to put a TV where I'm planning on putting this screen, below

So, I'll stick with the plan and see how it looks when the screen arrives next week. If it's st, I'll send it all back and chalk it up as a failed project.

Projector looks promising in my office room, at least it works:

So, a waiting game for the screen to arrive then I'll know if this will be worth it or not.

Given the layout, I am surprised there have been no mentions of rear-projection!

Everything has arrived, and a quick play at lunchtime seems rather promising. Didn't occur to me that by hanging it from the loops I can turn it around for indoor and outdoor viewing.

So far so good, but obviously the real test comes in the summer brightness

I must say, so far no regrets, haven’t had a chance to test it for outdoor viewing though, but at the very worst I imagine evening movies will be more than ok.

It’s certainly getting the thumbs up from Mrs UTH as she’s on the safe behind me watching her nonsense instead of being forced upstairs laugh

How are you managing the sound? I'm surprised how much I enjoy using our projector versus the OLED TV. I know the OLED panel is far superior in image quality, contrast etc, but the experience of the projector is just nicer. Light control in the summer will be an issues of us even indoors, itll be interesting how you get on outdoors.

So far, I've only really watched the rugby and now last night's football on it, so not really needed to have amazing sound to watch, last night I had the projector next to me so the sound was sufficient.
Watching a film outdoors I wonder how good it'll be, and I imagine the actual position of it will be important too....ideally I would have thought we'd want it directly behind us.
I'm wondering if I'll work out how to hook the Sonos soundbar up to it and maybe bring that out when we watch films.

Well, it took a long time but finally warm enough to give the outdoor setup a go

As expected, it’s not great until the sun starts going down

But it’s bloody great when it gets dark

Just seen your thread. Could have gone for a rear projection translucent screen, PJ could stay indoors.

Oh well, this does the job, and not like we'll ever get to use it before the toddler is put to bed anyway, so 8pm onwards realistically.

It all depends on how much money you want to throw at it. I am sure it is great for what they need and cheap enough to boot.

Based on Thursday night I’m optimistic I’ll have at least a handful of movie nights over the summer and if I manage that I’ll consider it money well spent.
Didn’t spend a fortune on it, I’m sure I could have done it differently/better, but oh well.

You could just turn it around and use it to watch films etc and time you want in the kitchensmile.
