With just over a month to go until 25th May and everything going to plan (so far!) here is a reminder and taster for the event.

The High Peak Region of the TVR Car Club are once again hosting the very popular "Thrills in the Hills" Peak District TVR scenic run.
In May 2018 we had a record turnout of 116 TVRs of all types from all over the country: eg Devon, Hampshire, Essex, the North East etc. as well as mainland Europe - Belgium & Holland - a truly International event! This year we are going one better with a car being shipped over from USA!

The run takes us through some of the best of the Peak District scenery and on some of the best driving roads. We have blasts across the moors, winding twisting country roads, scenic towns and villages, re-group points and turn points (great for videoing all the cars) and amazing Peak District scenery along the way.

Part of our afternoon run takes us on the A515, the 1950s Proposed Parsley Hay road race circuit for the Peak District. Imagine Jaguar D-types, Ferrari Monzas, Aston Martin DBR1s and 300S Maseratis fighting it out over a fast, narrow road circuit looping over high hills. A circuit almost as long as the old Nürburgring, with every sort of corner and hazard from stone walls and off-camber curves to a narrow bridge under a railway. A circuit in England, on the Queen's Highway. What might have been... Some of this is part of our "Thrills in the Hills" run.

If you arrive early ( from 9:00am ) at the start meet point, http://www.hassopstation.co.uk/ can have breakfast before leaving and we have a planned lunch stop at http://www.theknightstable.co.uk/ . The finish location is the stunning http://www.monsalhead.com/ with its fantastic views. A great TVR day out not to be missed.

START HASSOP STATION CAFE DE451NW meeting from anytime 9am onwards, START EXACTLY 10:30am.

http://www.visitpeakdistrict.com/accommodation/

Full details and maps will be available on the day. You can also follow us on the forums and "HIGH PEAK NOMADS TVR CAR CLUB" page on FACEBOOK. You will also find the event details there. There is a small entry fee and choices of catering at lunch and final parking at Monsall Head.
We have also managed to reserve a limited number of spaces for camping at the popular Barn Farm Campsite, Birchover, nr.Matlock, DE45 2BL. Payment on arrival. They have excellent facilities, but will be very busy this weekend, so if you want to book a pitch, please contact the High Peak DRO, Glen Robinson, so we can keep track of numbers.

Many thanks, we hope you can join us for this epic event!

I will be there (as long as I don’t break it on the TVRCC track day the previous day). I am doing both events, so there are only 60 or so owners in the entire U.K. who can make the same excuse for not being there.

Come on guys, a lot of work goes into organising these runs, so turn up and enjoy the sights and sounds of like minded people having fun with you.

Like QBee, I am also at Cadwell on the Friday but fully intend doing the Thrills on the Saturday with many others from my local group. It is one of the best annual TVR events and I would be so disappointed if I couldn't attend. It is also one of the few events that would appeal to our car disinterested partners too.

It's not often you get to see and hear circa 100 TVRs on the road.

By the way, this thread title needs to be updated as it states 2018. Some might think that it is not relevant to this year's event and not bother reading it.

I am just holding my breath on the numbers for Saturday.
In the past it has been heavily publicised, but for some unknown reason the publicity has been considerably less this year.

They did this with the Rutland Rumble, scheduled the day before Burleigh in April.
Result : 2018 = 60+ cars, 2019 = 6 cars

I would like to thank all of you that did the run yesterday. A record 131 cars at the Knights Table! Although we could say 132 cars took part as one member turned up at Hassop in his TVR, but could not take part on health grounds, I would also specifically like to thank Kev for his invaluable assistance in promoting the event and marshalling on the day. Thank you, but am looking forward to the day when "Red Leader" makes a return...… Also, have to give a big thanks to Glen for everything he puts into the event and his tremendous support.

One thing that many may not know is that we had a representative from Motorsport UK observing the event over the day from several locations on the route. I am pleased to report that I had a phone call from him on Saturday night congratulating us on a well organised event, driving standards, the courtesy and demeanour extended to him from members he had spoken to and thankfully that he would have no concerns in supporting future High Peak events. A pat on the back to all.

With that news, now for 2020 Thrills in the Hills Planning - watch this space!

I think I can speak for all of us - well done you and your team, and especially Glen, for some great organisation, and for arranging such perfect weather.

The organisation was epitomised for me by the marshall guiding us past the morning re-group point after Castleton - credit to you and the team for having the foresight to check that the space was available for us all to park, and avoid a cock-up when it wasn't.

We had a great day, and even my grandson enjoyed being away from wireless internet for more than 90 minutes.

Quote of the day from him "Granddad, can we have the roof back on please?" Me" "Why, Harry?" Harry (aged 10) "Because the wind is blowing my hair about and messing it up". Me. "NO WAY - put your TVRCC baseball hat on". Harry....."Oh yes, OK."

He says thank you for the huge selection of cakes at lunchtime.

I have to agree with young Harry, the lemon drizzle cream sponge cake with Branston pickle was amazing! lickwobble
That's what I found in my doggie bag when I got home in the evening! Delicious!

Thanks for the kind comments, it was all made worthwhile by all of you from far and wide who took part and behaved in such a responsible manner.
I feel proud to be a part of the friendly TVR community.
