What a great day! Good to catch up with old friends and also make new ones. Fantastic to see so many TVRs out on track being used as intended. Many thanks to all those who helped organise.

Griff cam footage playing with a couple of cerbs later on in the day.

Matt

Very professional videos and brilliant you could keep up with the Cerberas especially after your new paint job.

Ahhh so that was your Chim, with the Mk3 lights Tuscan seats and epic sounding supercharger. I forgot you changed the colour of your car otherwise I would have recognised it.

Shame we did not get a chance to catch up.

I was watching from the pits and noted you were lapping rather quickly!
Hi Matt! Indeed it was me! I came to look at your car and find you but you weren't around but I did try smile love your manifolds! It was a shame we didn't get to catch up though..

What video software were you running? It looks awesome.. car looks like it's going well too??

I got some GoPro footage I'll try and put up at the weekend, was going well though, saw lots of quick tvrs in the rear view mirror smile

Thank you very much sir, very kind. I am trying not to be too precious about the paint job, while I will try and keep it in tip top condition I am not going to let it ruin my enjoyment of the car.

I was hoping to see you there Steve, your Griff would have been great on track. The pre-cat Griffs do have a unique sound track.

You did better than me then, I didn't try and find you as I didn't realise you were there until you posted up the day after. getmecoat

It would be great to catch up at some point, I would be very interested to hear about your GEMS conversion amongst other things. Your car has changed an awful lot since we last met, it looks absolutely stunning and watching it from the pit wall sounded great and goes like stink! Anyway who are you trying to kid running in the intermediate group!

I shall look forward to seeing the footage, you should be able to work out your lap times from that. I would be very interested to know how quickly you were lapping as it looked proper quick out there.

The video software is nothing special, it is just Harry's Lap timer running on my iPhone with a old Go Pro camera. I recently added a 20hz GPS receiver which you can see taped to the dash as the iPhone inbuilt 1hz GPS is not really fast enough. It is not the most reliable setup but cheap and you get an OK result for casual track dayer like myself.

[quote] Longers, I was meaning to come across and say hi but didn’t get the chance to. Have known of you on the s series forum for ages but not had the chance to meet. Same goes to the other s drivers, I think autoandy was there too along with a white S.

As well as Longers, Andy was there in the green S, Barry had the white S and Mr Plow was in his Chim smile

I feel I missed out by not bringing my chim.

We often do TDs with a handful of other TVRs but this would have been a great opportunity to stretch it legs amongst many other tivs.
Unfortunately it was off the road hence my use of my semi daily, Skoda time!

You can see how hard I was pushing by the condition of my tyres. I took the temperature of the fronts and after a particularly long outing, 63 degrees.
You can see the rubber from other tyres that the hot tyres picked up from the track!

Roll on the next TVRCC Track Day.

Anyone who didn’t or couldn’t go missed out but through this thread you get some of the excitement a day like that brings.
Weldone everyone for bringing it home safe

It’s such a pity Rockingham looks to have its fate decided as it’s actually a great place with some good facilities and excellent for viewing from the pits. The forced cars really show there pace on the start straight and you can’t help but be very impressed.

If anyone watched Guy Martin last night driving a historic F1 car it very much reminded me of what it’s like when you first take your pride and joy on track and his wide eyes did have me smiling.
His greatest claim to fame for car driving was in his own admission driving his Tranny van and getting 170,000 miles out of the original brake pads,,, what a star he is thumbup

Give him a full day on a dry track and he’d be getting on it as he clearly has mechanical sympathy and a smooth approach.
A lesson for all of us and proof experience is key.

Matthews cars going well I see, fantastic dude wink

A few vids from the day. All low res to keep them small, but if you see your car, let me know which one, and where on it (time & reg) and I can send you a full res clip if you want smile

My quickest lap, and unfortunately a really untidy lap frown The clearest lap I got out there of the day, and completely buggered up gears and run wide in hairpin, cut pif paf way too much as well. I reckon there's a 1.31 in there. Everyone seemed to jump out of my way, which was unnecessary, as I was very happy following the good looking motors out there smile

Was an excellent day, and everyone drove superbly, way better than a normal track day smile. I just wish I'd managed to put some faces to the names on here.
Shame about Rockingham, but we've all done it now thumbup

That is awesome, many thanks for posting those up. Just goes to show the difference in pace compared to a really quick car and a race car. All the TVRs look like they are standing still!

I was jumping out the way as it looks menacing in the rear view mirror, that and the fact despite checking my mirrors regally it just seemed to appear all of a sudden ;-)

Hey Alun, hope you are well sir. Shame you could not make it, would have been great to catch up and I love our track battles as we have fairly equally matched cars which is always good fun.

Hi mate
Not anymore by the sound of your car, it’s released the beast a bit by the looks of it. Mid range etc.
I’m a bit gutted I missed it but such is life.
As usual some great Tvr mates offered me a drive if I came along which is really nice but without being able to offer the same back thought it not right.

Videos look great and the race car sort of makes a massive point in the hands of a race driver regards lap pace.
I assume that’s on slicks, pretty damn ace either way.
I can’t believe knowone was trying to get the tail out round the final hairpin biggrin

By all accounts and from what can be seen in the vids, driving standards seem to be up which is very good to see. If anything stops me it’s loose cannons,,, which is ironic coming from me biglaugh
I’m still buzzing from Hethel so another time sir,,, your cars sounding awesome man, does it feel a bit quicker as it looks it.

You should have come along, car or no car it would have been great to catch up.

The manifolds only added 9ftlb so not really any faster than before. When Dom dyno’d it he did say it needed a remap to get it setup properly which I have not done. Still saving for my MBE. Besides you are more handy behind the wheel so I need a slight advantage! You are right though the sound from those pipes is mega!

The standard of driving was the best I have ever seen at a trackday. There is always one idiot wherever you go but there were none at This day. Even to the extent that every car I let past waved to say thank you, unreal.

Hethel was epic mate, that memory still has me in stitches now.

Alun, you underestimated again just how much we enjoy your company. You make a track day into a special event just by being there. I know you had other things on your plate this time, but please come and make the day complete for us next time.

If not before, I am planning on hitting the track at Cadwell Park next Spring with the TVRCC.....hope you will all be there to add some sparkle to the day. QBee Towers will be available the night before for those travelling.....and Mrs QBee likes to try out her culinary skills on willing victims guests.

No worries, it felt like one of those days when there seemed to be plenty of time and then suddenly it was time to go home!

I have got a reasonable-ish photo of your car (I'll put the bit of blur down to the speed you were doing and my limited photography skills!). Send me an email to https://fasttracktours.co.uk/contact/ and I'll reply with the photo wink

Me too, I giggle every time I think about it.

You what Mat, the rivalry is one thing but the respect and high driving standards is another. Even on trackdays I tend to wave at the marshalls when slowing down as a mark of respect as even the bloke just waving a flag is a very important part of the experience. If they wave back I get a real good buzz cos these guys are up close and know good track craft and driving like few other spectators could.
It all started with carting and bikes before that as most the time it was our dad’s or someone linked helping out. I marshalled too as a boy and there’s nothing like a competitor thanking you for helping him ( pick his bike up ) or whatever.
Anthony you’ll have me welling up. Words fail me. Thanks to you guys I’m finding it really difficult to consider selling the car because it feels like a bigger loss than just selling a car.
Food did you say food, I’ll be there biggrin

I’ve put MYSELF through the mill these last months and fk it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever faced,,, trying to be happy again, I started my car tonight for only the second time in months and considering I didn’t go a day for years without using or just enjoying the famous Tvr experience that’s a big loss in itself, but that lovely motor with its ace management system warms the soul. How can a noise of an engine or its exhaust do that to you,,,,
We go on about this problem or that, price fluctuation blar blar but something’s are worth much more than money alone. In this crazy world the Tvr seems like a bit of escapism which kind of shows how bad things are out there or just how good Tvr at soothing a troubled mind.
I gave my car a new lease of life and maybe now it will do the same for me someday.
All I know is every experience I’ve had with Tvr mates including band stuff are becoming priceless memories. I don’t just want memories I want to carry on experiencing this. The trackday and people’s fond memories which are already being talked about ( Rockingham was a day in history) when you think about it shows I’m not the only softy with warm feelings towards this kind of thing.
I hated drag racing before I had a go, the lads and fun and collective effort is what I enjoyed, you see it with all these drag racing families who camp out, it’s the same with all racing really and we Tvr men are just the same. smile

At the end of the day, the club is not about the cars, it's the fantastic and amazing people in the club that make it so good.

I must admit its the fabulous cars that attract them in the first place BUT ITS THE PEOPLE YOU MEET THAT MAKES MEMBERSHIP WORTHWHILE
