You should be able to hire one for a tenner at the track if you aren't planning on becoming a serial track-dayer
I was hoping for one that would fit my small head, all the ones I’ve used for carting don’t fit properly. Feel like rental ski boots, but far worse as it’s on your head! Will have a look and see what I can find, if nothing at a suitable price then rental it’ll be. I need to pick up some more roll bar padding for the noble so can try some on at the same time. Hopefully won’t be to expensive a trip. I’m hoping to do a few more in the future too. Now just need to convince the wife to let me come in the TVR, otherwise it’ll be the Noble (I’ll say it quietly round here ) as it has a full cage, fia seats securely mounted not just to fibreglass etc and will be getting proper 6 point harnesses soon.
Does anyone know if there is any formal driving instructors on site for the day for a hour or two?
There is usually a few driving instructors. I’d contact Rockingham and book a slot as they might be very busy that day
The Noble should be vey much at home on a track and most likely the car I’d rather drive from a cornering perspective.
If your not that experienced on track then maybe this meet is the one for the Tvr as im sure most of us have never driven around tracks in a Tvr. If you can get instruction all the better.
Sure you’ll have a few who track regularly hammering round without a care in the world but you should also meet guys who are doing this for the first time so you won’t be alone.
Ideally a list of vital things you need at a race track should be added.
Spare brake pads being just one or not turning up with half worn out road pads,,, they could be destroyed in no time on a track.
You’ve got a couple of hard braking zones every lap so the brakes need to be upto the job.
Old fluid will catch you out etc so prepare properly and you can go all day without drama.
I used to go to quite a few trackdays with a mate testing race cars and the times you see a Clio boy or whatever replacing brakes by 11am is alarming because it shows such a lack of basic knowledge.
Another reason why a Tvr specific day is so good because as we know most Tvr owners take huge care over their cars.

Will pay up when I get home.
What are the rules on driving with the roof off and an open face helmit?
Three years ago it was no problem. What are the rules on driving with the roof off and an open face helmit?
Then someone on an MSV track event had a nasty occurrence in a Caterham, when the car in front blew its engine and sprayed his unprotected face with hot oil.
MSV operate about half the tracks in the UK (Brands, Cadwell, Snetterton, Oulton, Donington and Bedford), and the rule as stated by Phazed is hard and fast at those tracks. The only way to find out about Donington is to phone them. Or the organisers.

Usually open helmet = roof on.What are the rules on driving with the roof off and an open face helmit?
I assume I don't need the HANS setup for this?

Signed up for what will be my first track day with the Chimaera - I think the novices section should do nicely! Last time I did anything speed related the supercharger drive belt shredded and saw me going home in a recovery truck so fingers crossed (and a spare belt).
I know people have asked about helmets but can anyone tell me if a full face bike helmet will be OK or do they require a specific standard?

I have never seen them check the helmets, just glance at them to see that they are on and done up, and at MSV tracks, that you are wearing the correct helmet for the car type. So you should be ok.
I always feel that my head is probably worth more than £50 to me, so I made sure my helmet was current standard Snell compliant.
Your head, your call.
Ditto re roll cages/hoops.
.....and anything else the FIA think is a good idea.

Just found this thread, we're in at RTD19, but having had to let the Tuscan go due to health problems we've been permitted to bring her replacement along, so no picking on the white M3 please as it's only our second TD in it, and it's heavy but at least there's a V8 in there
Looking forward to seeing you all there, come and say hello, I'm sure we'll stick out like a sore thumb

Just a gentle reminder, everyone needs to pay the balance by the end of the month.
Same as the deposit, bank transfer into the club account with the same reference, email Alison at the office and she will send you a email back confirming she received it.
More details regarding arrangments will be emailed out in the next few weeks. I am camping at Rockingham on the Thursday night, who else is joining us?
Any problems email me on chairman@tvrcc.com, or call my mobile, the number is in Sprint.
Cheers
Richard

All paid up a while ago now. I don't think I'm up for camping, will seek out the closest travel bodge or premiere sin. Least I will have a fatty breakfast in the morning.
What time is the briefing?
Usually 8.30, but it will say on the joining instructionsWhat time is the briefing?
