Hi, I'm the new owner of a Chimaera 400.
My car arrived a week ago and I didn't drive it because I don't have Italian plates.
I immediately experienced an issue with the electric window on driver's side which got stuck in the down position.
The second issue, which seems to be quite common, is related to ignition. Once the immobilizer has been disabled and the fuel pump starts to work, i turn the key on but---- nothing happens. Sometimes the engine starter motor turn on after a few seconds of key pushing. This happen on cold start. I think it's connected to a problem with the immobilizer and a bypass is needed for now. I have always liked chimaera and I hope these issues will not prevent me from enjoying it in the years to come. I have to say it is beautiful and fits well with my other British cars.

Message Chimpongas on here for instructions regards immobiliser wiring mod.
The good news is it won’t stop you enjoying the car for years to come.
Often these cars are stood too long, basic wiring on these cars so check connections etc and someone will be along to help you soon.
Welcome and now the car lives in a warm country your wiring faults might actually Improve with use.
These cars are far more basic than at first glance so any decent mechanic who has worked on these engines can understand these cars fairly well.

@ Lancepar: Exactly, today it is no longer possible, so I will wait a few months before enjoying my chimaera on the road.
I will see how to fix theese issues on my TVR. I hope I will be able to do it

If you are not familiar with the Chimaera the starting procedure can be a little different.
One you have unlocked the car and then get seated you have only a few seconds before trying to start the car.
Every time I get in the car and insert the ignition key I have to push the unlock button again unless I am very quick.
It then turns the engine over and starts if I don’t push button again I get the same as you are getting.
I normally know as I can hear the fuel pump priming.
Maybe teaching you suck eggs but if you are a new owner it may help.

@ WOO5IE, thanks for your comment. After the first moments I learned how to disable the alarm and the immobilizer. Sometimes the starter engine doesn't turn on, and after few seconds, start to works.
@ChimpOnGas. I have read every page on this forum and I believe that my Chimaera has the well know problem related to the immobilizer relay. I am sending you a private message to get the scheme, thank you

Regarding the window that has gone down, and will not come back up - It may be the window motor that needs replacing ( My Griffith had an intermittent widow for a while, and eventually the motor failed).
Its located inside the door body, and is easy to change. Just unbolts and you can unplug it from the wiring.
Here is a photo of my old one, ( on the right), and the new one I replaced it with, ( on the left). I did need to swap over the plug, as the new one had a different one when supplied.

Re the window motor. I think if you take out the radio speaker you can get at the plug for the window motor. It is a 2 pin plug with quite thick wires.
Unplug and apply 12volts to the motor wires. You may need to try swapping the wires. If the motor is dead it wont work with either polarity of the wires.
This is the best test to start with as your problem may be in the switch which is not as easy to test.
If it comes to it the motor is commonly used for the earlier London Black cabs (taxi) and is a cost effective way to get a replacement. Note a left-hand taxi motor fits the right hand on a TVR.

@ Bomb, Steve_D, FoxTVR430 I followed your advice and checked my window motor. In my case a good cleaning and a lubrication of the glass guide was enough to make my electric window work again and, for now, it works pretty good.
I love this car even if I haven't driven it yet. I can't wait for the Italian number plate to arrive. I have to say it looks good next to my other English cars
