As this will be my first trackday, do any of the old hands have any top tips for Cadwell specifically, or track days in general?
I assume your car is well prepped.Start with standard tyre pressures. The morning will be sessioned so will not be too long and tyres will stay fine.
Check pressures after. If they have risen significantly, reduce by a few pounds.
If you have the opportunity, allow the car to cool down on the last lap.
After coming off track, don't apply handbrake as this will assist in warping the discs.
Don't try and be a hero, (save that for the afternoon when you have learnt the track).
Pay attention to your brakes. Any sign of them fading or the pedal starting to go long, reduce speed and come in.
If possible, pick a car that seems to know what it is doing and follow the lines.
It always takes me 3 or 4 outings to learn the basics of a track to feel comfortable enough to start turning up the wick. Keep that in mind, allow plenty of braking distance and you will have a great day.
As for the track, the mountain, (jokingly called) can induce a bit of air or at least completely lighten the suspension which will be unsettling if taken flat out!
Hall Bends just after the pit exit are easy to get wrong, approach with caution in the beginning.
I've seen people come off at the hairpin, just be sensible.
Gooseneck drops away and grip is lessened, just be aware and don't go in too hot.
Everything else is easy. Just don't be sucked in by trying to keep up with a fast driver, it will end in tears.
Look me up if you want a passenger ride, always happy to oblige.
My good friend and Cadwell master Anthony, (QBee) will hopefully be around and may be persuaded to go out with you and give you some pointers........
Have fun!

Attend and listen to the driver briefing at the beginning of the day.
Try and book one of the on-hand instructors who will come out with you and give you some good advice and best practice.

The car is fully checked over, all fluids topped up, and it also recently had new suspension (Gaz Monos - Matt Smith did a great job!) and Ferodo brake pads so it should be ready to go.
I have already booked the TVR instructor and will try to find you and QBee when I am at the circuit to say hello!
Certainly no heroics from me, my primary aim is to drive safely, learn a bit more about the car and enjoy myself!
All the best, Philip.

While I'm not making Cadwell I fancy Donnington in August so I started a dedicated thread.
Not done Donnington before so very keen.
I'm also considering a Snetts in July - possibly the 18th. Depends on getting a car back on the 21st May
I can't make it this year either but would definitely be interested Donnington and Sneterton. Not done Donnington before so very keen.

There are bound to be some last minute cancellations/ no shows....... How big is the reserve list? No doubt there will be some one cancel on the day too.........
I am one of them unfortunately. Leaky steering rack means my TVR won't make it. If anyone wants to take on the slot please send me a message.

Morning Separate thread here; https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Waiting on getting the car back and likely to do Brands in lieu of Snetts as easier to get there and back in a day.
Yes, an excellent day.
A big thank you to the TVRCC organisers.
It was really good being amongst all those TVR’s out on track. Weather was perfect, not too warm and with a nice breeze.
There was only one or two red flags which stopped play which was minimal.
Behaviour was good on track with only a few people refusing to move over when pressed but we will give them the benefit of the doubt that they were concentrating so much in looking forward!
I stayed out as long as possible in My special edition TVR Boxster which didn’t miss a beat all day.
Looking forward to the next one organised by the club. Let’s just hope there are plenty of people who will take up the opportunity to get back on track. It looks like numbers have dwindled over the last few years.
I am looking forward to seeing some photographs or possibly a video when people have time to post these up.
