Off the back of this thread I popped into HMV on the off-chance and was very happy to see the DVD anthology for sale:
Alien
Aliens
Alien 3
Alien Resurrection
Predator
Predator 2
AVP
AVP2
£15!
And they include the Special Edition as well as the Theatrical release on each DVD so it's nearly double the fun for £15 (I'm not sure if there are SE's of P1 and P2).
£15 is a very good price but you have to bear in mind that only 3 of those films are actually worth repeat viewing (can you guess which?)Alien

As for Prometheus, after seeing those shots I am starting to be quietly optimistic.
I think this is as close as we're going to get for the moment:

I think the films website is going live on the 5th August prometheus-movie.com or similar which will have the footage as played at comic-con, not sure about the idea that it'll be a PG-13, got the impression from the video that Ridley is hoping to convince them otherwise but it may end up being a financial decision
I know that violence and horror doesn't always equal suspense and a good film but for the Alien series i think it needs to have the visceral edge that an 18 (or R in america?) allows

And now Scott's going to do a Blade Runner prequel / sequel. Not really sure how I feel about that.

Exactly my thoughts.... was just about to start a new thread for that!http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/08/18/ridle...
Hmmm...it appears the plot for this film MIGHT be the plot referred to in my opening post of this thread according to this article:

Its a good assumption, and hopefully it will tie in with the subsequent movies nicely.
Raef Spall (of Pete Vs Life) was on Something for the Weekend a couple of weeks ago talking about the film, he has a part in there, but wasn't able to say anything other than "I'm in the film" and "It was amazing to be on the set and be directed by Ridley Scott"
I saw a video on YouTube that said it was the official trailer for the film, but all it was was a collection of stills, I saw Idris Elba in there too, great move to have him in there, and looks to be quite a British presence in the cast.
The film is definately happening though, should there have been any doubt.
ETA: Seems quite a few people are expressing disappointment at it likely to be rated PG-13, I will be too, it has to be scary, it needs to be a bit gory, I don't want some poncy E.T. rendition of the Aliens franchise.

The comments non that page make me laugh http://io9.com/5857077/ridely-scott-dishes-on-the-...
Useless bit of fun trivia on Aliens....
During the filming of scene where the space-suited crew enter the chamber with the long dead alien giant, Ridley Scott wasn't happy with the scale, even though it was built as large as could be achieved in the biggest studio Pinewood had to offer (the largest in the world at the time).
So, he changed the cast for his 10 year old son and his mates, thus doubling the scale.

Yeah, I agree 100%.I saw the interview with Ridley at Comic Con where he said that if he didn't scare the bejeezus out of us then he'll have failed - or words to that effect.
Sorry, but with today's sophisticated audiences you can't scare an adult with a PG-13. Perhaps they'll be 2 versions of this film.

Disagree, The Exorcist would probably get a PG-13 these days, admittedly at a push. No gore, no nudity and not much swearing. The crcifx scene might be a problem though. Alien is also scary and has even less of those things and would probably be a 13 too.
Scary is not gore, its suggestion.

No chance. If you took out all of the scenes required to make it such you'd barely have a film at all.
Of course previous era films will get a lower classification as the years roll by but there is point at which the public WILL NEVER accept a film being fit for a 13 year old.
The original Alien would be/is a cert 15 today but will never be a PG-13 in its current (scary) form.
Show me a film that was proper scary (not Girly scary) at the time of release that was cert 13 at the time of its release.

Your mother sucks co**s in Hell, Karras, you faithless slime. Stick your co** up her ass, you motherfking worthless co**sucker.
Let Jesus fk you, let Jesus fk you. Let him fk you.
Father Merrin: I cast you out! Unclean spirit!
Demon: Shove it up your ass, you faggot!
Father Merrin: In the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ! It is he who commands you! It is he who flung you from the gates of Heaven to the depths of Hell!
Demon: fk him!
Father Merrin: Be gone...
Demon: fk him, Karras! fk him!
Father Merrin: ...from this creature of God! Be gone! In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit!
Oh yeah, clearly PG-13 material
