It always interests me when I watch old things and a face pops up, sort of recognisable, younger and leaner, then it disappears because it's a walk on three or a bit part.

Recent ones I have spotted.
  1. A very young Jonny Lee Miller as a leather clad love interest of Onslo's wife in Keeping Up Appearances
  2. Viggo Mortenson in Witness
  3. Jake Gyllenhaal as the kid in City Slickers
  4. Tom Hardy as 'Hi I'm character A' who promptly gets blown up seconds later in Band of Brothers.

I remember that one. He does an 'armless' impression of a singer, quite amusing.

He actually had a reasonable role in the 2 episodes he featured in as Pfc. John Janovec and died in a jeep crash. (In fact he got the only sex scene in the whole series if I remember correctly)

In the opening scene of "War Games", a pair of USAF airmen go on duty at an underground ICBM silo, and receive a false launch command. I assume they were unknown character actors at the time, but these days you know them instantly as Leo McGarry from the West Wing (John Spencer) and Mr Blonde off of Reservoir Dogs (Michael Madsen).

Well, Tom Hardy was the baddy in the latest batman, played Charles bronson, and is very much a Hollywood hit.
Viggo Mortenson played Aragorn in lord of the Rings
jake (*()&^*^ was the guy from Donnie Darko and Brokebum Mountain
johnny Lee Miller was in trainspotting, and Dexter if memory serves me.

Yes they REALLY are to those that watch films and don't have Alzheimer's. The last three place amongst the top echelon of stars in the Hollywood firmament.
Jonny Lee Miller's star has dropped recently though, he was a big name around 8 years ago.

Jonny Lee Miller is currently starring in the US version of Sherlock, "Elementary". CBS may be sued by the BBC for copying Sherlock without permission.
