Wheeler Dealers - New Series 2012
Discussion
Out of interest how many other cars were there? I can see the Willys Jeep and obviously the Isetta. I guess they actually work on a lot of cars in a short space of time rather than 1 at a time?
Whats the haggling process as well? Is it like a normal sale where you agree a deal or are you basically told the price we'll accept is 'x' and you have to act and haggle down to it?

Congrats on the purchase Russell & Adam, it's a HELL of a Car; really enjoyed watching it come together, this series has been excellent (probably helped by memories of that other show on C5).
Have to say though, as awesome as the finished Car was, I was really taken by it before they started, there's something so cool about a slightly dog-eared black fastback, so menacing.

Great car RustyT. Were you not tempted by Bernie & Mario's masterpiece - after all, it was valued at £29k by a well respected vehicle valuation expert.
I know which one I'd rather have - and you have it .
Gazza51 - I was going to point you over here from the other place. Glad you found it on your own.

MMmmmm. I find that the expert very often does not ask all the questions I would in his shoes. Perhaps there is a bit of a time limit, but it always seems a bit - lacking - if you know what I mean.I keep leching at the pics Russ - what a great car.

The Mustang, Jeep, Isetta and the TR6 were all there. The main work is done at another workshop (the one you can see in the photos where the Mustang has the trade plates on). When we were there all the cars were already complete so not sure which car was done when exactly.Whats the haggling process as well? I met Paul there, we were the second people to look at the car - a guy came the day before and wanted to buy it but needed to sell something first or didn't have storage space, I can't exactly remember - and a few others were lined up for the following day.
We knew straight away that we wanted it, even @ £25k as it was well worth it but I asked Paul what would it take to buy the car, he said pretty close to £25K, we offered £23k which he said wasn't close enough and then said £24.5k would buy the car. We talked it over with my American car mechanic mates who came with and they said if we didn't buy it they would as it's that good.
Adam and I agreed that it wasn't worth dicking around trying save a few quid as we'd probably keep the car forever, gave Paul £100 cash deposit (cash in 'and son, cash in 'and) and he said no-one else would see that car and it was ours. That was on Saturday 15th September, filming was done 19th September.

When we saw the simply stunning job that Bernie and Co had done to the blue 69 we were gutted that we bought the WD car - we'd much prefer to have bought an ex-rotted out, stitched back together bitsa any day. It's a shame about the program which has zero credibility. I know that these are programs made for TV but some are good and others bad. Make your own minds up which is which.I know which one I'd rather have - and you have it .

Mind you, I saw the episode with the Canadian Cadillac collector with $10 million worth of Cadi's in and underground nuclear bunker - bloody hell!! I love Cadi's and have a 1953 Convertible that I've owned for 23 years but the one that you saw briefly in the show looked unbelievable - plus it was one of around 550 Eldorados made in 53 so worth a hell of a lot more than mine.

Thanks, I know what you mean about leaving it ratty, make it crazy quick and mechanically perfect but leave the body tatty so you don't crap yourself every time you take it out and park it. I like the idea but my nature wouldn't let me keep a car that way..... because I'm stupid !Have to say though, as awesome as the finished Car was, I was really taken by it before they started, there's something so cool about a slightly dog-eared black fastback, so menacing.

It's TV my friend, nothing more. They're really only interested in selling the program, not the car which is just a silent actor.I keep leching at the pics Russ - what a great car.

So you don't like the car ? - no problem, we're all individual and you're entitled to your own opinion.
You misunderstand, I mean I really really want one. the one in the programme was utterly amazing if slightly shabby, and pretty much exactly how I'd like one.And in fact have spent the last half hour trying to calculate how I could afford a mustang and a house.
Well I could afford to run both, it's getting the cash to buy both.

Sorry, must have been a senior moment cos I totally got the wrong end of the stick there! And in fact have spent the last half hour trying to calculate how I could afford a mustang and a house.

Wait until your 52 with a 26 year old son who loves the same stuff as you do - affording stuff gets easier when you can split the cost. You'll get there one day (I mean both reaching 52 and having a Mustang).
