Yep, surely he's seen the programme before where places without an architect haven't gone well?!?

I am embarrassed - and to think I tried to buy a castle in Ireland this year.

...and the bank lent him money....where did the country go wrong?

This house is a mile from where I grew up. I haven't seen it since it's been finished but last time I seen it I wasn't too hopeful.

Even if it turns out OK, of which I'm not convinced, I can guarantee it will have cost a whole lot more than it would have had an architect been employed with a finished design.

God I hope that makes the final design!

Missed the first 15 on this but it looks interesting to say the least! A completely amazing or amazingly st one.

I realise why the planning laws are there but a lot of the time they seem a real block rather than aide to restoration.

WTF!! Getting some lads in to rebuild the bathrooms over the weekend, no wonder his builder went off on one!

Seams like a very expensive way of ruining something that could be potentially be very nice.

The worst client ever.

No architect, no idea, no design, no programme.

I love seeing someone else have to deal with the problem biggrin

I don't know what you are all on about. This is normal practice, only difference is we employ architects to do the 'mind changing' rather than the client.

What were design development and optimism bias invented for? wink

I think he might now be seeing the wisdom of having an architect and thus finishing the project before the banking crisis took hold.
