Whilst on my social distancing I have decided to watch the entire 34 episodes I bought on DVD when my local HMV closed. I will be watching them in chronological order.
I love the slow pace of it, at times it's even more glacial than Inspector Morse and just seems to flow. The backdrop is frequently stunning, even the crap parts of 'Vigata' look good!
I assume that Montalbano is as realistic a portrayal of Sicilian life as Midsomer Murders is about England, but they do manage to make living in a stone hovel seem an appealing lifestyle.
I know what you mean - and they have featured in previous episodes, but Sicily has been the Piccadilly of the Med since the dawn of history, even the Normans dropped by!
