Word has it the GMG empire is coming to an end. Rating are falling fast for Fn'L and the spin off shows have been cancelled.

I don't think there will be another series.
The series, which we know is the last one, or GMG itself?
Both I suspect, as GMG without the TV show won't survive.

Is there more episodes? Seen the skydiving one last week but they have disappeared.
Short final series - 10 episodes.

I think it will probably be able to coast along as a brand selling merchandise for several years, simply on the strength of the popularity of the TV show and the constant repeats of it. But eventually it might fade away.

As a garage? Who knows.

Orange County Choppers survived when thier Discovery series ended, I suspect they will lose some of the big corporate deals as there wouldn't be the TV exposure, but as long as RR still has the motivation to keep the bussiness alive there will probably be a demand for thier work

OCC went bankrupt as did Paul Sr. At the time they tried to suggest it was a restructuring of debt but the reality was the business wasn’t sustainable in the format it was in during the peak of the show. Paul Sr had to sell everything, including his house and huge car collection.

The business is still open but I’m very sure OCC represents the opposite of what Richard hopes his future holds.

Have the stopped because Discovery stopped producing or because RR wanted to?

If the former then I would not be surprised if they set up a youtube channel and do something like roadkill.

Has he sold the house though?

He put it on the market in 2017 before filing for bankruptcy, at close to $3m, thinking the house would sell quickly and solve his financial problems, but it didn't and then dropped the price to $2.5m, and it still didn't sell, so hence the filing for bankruptcy. As of early last year, nearly 2 years later, the price was down to just over $1.5m and still hadn't sold.

While OCC is still trading, I heard that they do more general repair and service work on quads, ride on mowers and all sorts of stuff more than custom bike work - just to pay the bills.

You are correct, it didn’t end up selling. That doesn’t surprise me because the market for $1M+ homes in that area is 0.

I have driven passed the OCC store a hundred times and it’s location never ceases to amaze me. Not exactly a bustling metropolis or the center of a biking community.

Went to OCC when we went to see friends in NJ a few years ago - h0b0 is right, weird place for it to be located.

It’s also huge - much bigger than I was expecting. You can also see the workshop through the (I presume) one-way glass.

Nice burger too.

I seem to remember OCC never actually owned the premises, certainly not outright,it was either mortgaged or leased and now they just rent a portion of the building.

I get really confused with the seasons and what is aired in the UK. I follow RR & FNL on Insta and often see things on there that take an age to air or simply doesn't air at all.

RR has just got married and seemingly lost a lot of weight.
He certainly has, and whilst I’ve no doubt she’s on an original chassis there have Deffo been a few upgrades. The headlights for instance.

Richard will just go back to buying & selling letting Casey do his fabrication/bodywork as he needs him.

GMG was always a show/merchandise garage.

GMG had been around building stuff for local customers in Dallas for nearly 10 years before the start of the TV show, with pretty much just RR and AK and one other. They got their TV break from Chip Foose as guest builders on one of the Overhaulin project cars in the mid 2000's.
But it was AK's build/design skills that got them that gig, not RR or anything else. RR might have had the TV personality to front the TV show, but as far as a hot-rod/streetrod/kustom workshop is concerned, without AK or someone like Bass they are a spent force, and I can't see RR going back to pre-TV GMG as they don't have the known car builder anymore.
That's why I think GMG won't survive long term post the TV show ending.

I was talking about the new building, having read RR's book which was why I said he'll be going back to Casey for any fab/paintwork.

Casey isn’t his name, it’s KC, his initials.

laugh

I didn't realise he meant KC when he was writing about Casey. I assumed it was one of the newer guys from these series that I haven't seen yet.
KC's bodyshop is doing pretty well, I doubt he'd need to take on any work from RR. KC was a 'known' car painter before GMG, like AH was a known car builder before GMG.

I thought they meant Casey the fabricator rather than KC the painter. So now I am confused. hehe

Isn't it Justin(?), who took over from Aaron effectively, a pebble beach winning mustang builder?

Yes, he was the lead mechanic / builder (don't know correct term) until Bass came in. He's also quite good at managing both up, and down, unlike a few others that have been on the show.
