Just watching an old one with a Renault alpine. I have to hand it to Mike, after the series eventually finishes, he will have left a large body of work that can be respected, with many interesting models.
A large number of cars, with a decent proportion being interesting, I'll grant you. "Body of work", I struggle with. smile
Certainly a large body
Oh this made me laugh.

Gearbox rebuild,

New clutch

New steering rack

I wonder if that is the work done By WD? MB must be struggling to find new “repairs” for the cars so the programme does not get repetitive, he will not want to constantly change clutch, change brakes etc.

Looking forward to new programme, goan yersel Mike!

That's the sort of work done to make the car safe / saleable that people spot and complain about, probably completed by the 'mystery' but credited mechanics but is never filmed as you say, is repetitive and doesn't add anything new to the programme.

It’s a shame he’s still the face of it tbh, IMO it holds the show back?
Don't be ridiculous.

Exactly ! He is the show. You can replace the mechanic, but replace MB and it's no longer Wheeler Dealers. Say what you want about him, but he has set up a very successful franchise.

They replaced him in the French version and it's still Wheeler Dealers.

To be fair, he’s probably not fluent in French wink

I'm not sure he's entirely fluent in English.

It’s like removing David Frost from the David Frost show if he were still alive. Brewer is WD. Without him it’d die. Changing mechanics has not lessened its popularity. He used to work for a mate of mine who said he was always ambitious

He turned up to wish Gerry and Aurelien well in one episode. It was quite odd to have French-dubbed Brewer.

WD would excel if lard left and they had a good replacement.

I also think the shows success is despite him not because of him.
