Seen a few old ones of late. Am I alone in being irritated by the way he often sits on the bonnet or wing of a recently painted and/or polished car?
The director may be saying 'Mike, sit on the bonnet, it makes a better shot'.aeropilot said:
Mind you Edd wasn't exactly free of hideous taste errors on WD...
The worst for me was that odd little hatchback which ended up with silver hexagons all over it. Proof that you can't polish a turd!Voiceovers are usually charged by the hour so £2,000 per day is £250ph which is a basic starting price. Of course if you just wanted an hour it wouldn't be that pro-rata, but still not bad.

The infamous AMC Pacer. To be fair there's not a lot you can do to a Pacer......one of the most hideous cars ever built.
Not really Edd's fault, it was Brewer's for even buying one in the first place.
Best thing he could have done was buy it to destroy it and remove another of the hideous things from the surface of the planet

Whilst it's true that you can't polish a turd, you can cover it in glitter. I actually quite liked the retro-future vibe they did with the wrap on the Pacer. To be fair there's not a lot you can do to a Pacer......one of the most hideous cars ever built.

From the videos post Edd leaving it does appear to be really stretched relations.
A you tube is saw today with Ed in it he was asked what would make the perfect car show? Well me Ed fixing up broken cars and explaining to the viewer what and why he is doing cuz. He then added there wouldn’t be any buying or selling of the car and no one else I don’t need dead weight.
Did they get on before the point they had to sell or really they were just civil to make some money.

I suspect their relationship was just like most work mates. They got on well enough, but weren't necessarily friends outside work. What is apparent though, is that they both had different relationships with the production team.
I get a feeling, that from a purely business point of view Edd made bad decision after bad decision.
Every 'true petrolhead' all said pretty much in chorus, Why is Mike even on it, he's very irritating and we'd rather watch Edd.
Edd complained about the move to the US, he complained about it being dumbed down and the work time being reduced to add more time in for Mikes antics and the petrolheads all agreed.
So Edd (supposedly) through his toys out of the pram, either refused to take part in one episode, or they made one without him to judge audience reaction depending on who you believe.
He left the show, again some say as a bluff, he begged Ant not to take the job, but he did.
Velocity knew the score though, they took a show that used to appeal to about 200k viewers in the UK, and gave it more mainstream appeal.
Edd, sad to say has made a couple of pilots on YT based on what people said they wanted to see, and they didn't really work out, whereas Wheeler Dealers has gone from strength to strength
I'm surprised he hasn't removed his post-WD vids from YT, he comes across quite angry and bitter about the whole thing, so even though Mike's a gobste, he doesn't look like the 'bad guy'.

I'm not going to argue with anythig you've said, except this. Has is "gone from strength to strength", or has it just continued with a much reduced scope and shorter production runs?Doofus said:

Has is "gone from strength to strength", or has it just continued with a much reduced scope and shorter production runs?It was taken over by a US company that wanted to refocus the show to a US centric show.....which it has. It now pretty much has very little connection to what WD was before, and naff all relevance for a UK audience other than 2 Brits front it.
From talking to my friends that live in the USA, it doesn't have much of a following over there, so I don't think Edd is missing out on anything tbh, and spending so much time in the USA clearly didn't suit his family lifestyle and other business interests that suffered as a result.
Due to the fact these shows are constantly repeated this debate will run and run as if the wrong just happened.
Edd and Mike will be sat on a beach somewhere retired and people will still be banging on about it.
Someone just fixing cars with grease all over their hands is only interesting to a small group of people.
Hopefully what they have seen means they can crack on and solve problems if they have the aptitude.
You get the feeling people expected to learn all the secrets and tips on every car ever made.

What do you reckon Mike earns from WD ? And was Edd on the same money ?
Does anyone know of any owner that has an ex WD car ? Love to know how well `prepared ` it was. Similar question for CAR SOS.
I wonder how much money there is in these shows. I also wonder how much Mike gets paid for personal appearance.
As much as Mike can be annonying, fair play to him as he's still going. Edd has disppeared. Mike is again the clever one as he realises the change that Youtube is having on this market and is getting more and more involved with Car THrottle. So again, fair play to him.

Essentially Mike is all about sales and marketing and grabbing opportunities; by contrast Edd is a nice bloke who does spanners. They are certainly opposite ends of the spectrum; Mike is a 'geezah' and can't say any word ending in 'ing' but he sells cars so that's what you get. He does his job, and Edd does his. If I had to choose one as a neighbour though it would be Edd (not least because he might change a sensor for a beer or two!)

A Mike Brewer vehicle (part of his collection) went through auction at the weekend. It was an old Bedford or Commer van, total wreck, bet he picked it up for peanuts. Sold for a good few ££££Does anyone know of any owner that has an ex WD car ? Love to know how well `prepared ` it was. Similar question for CAR SOS.

The Mk 1 Transit that featured on one of those Ant and Philip Glenister programmes sold for in excess of £15K at the weekend.
