That wasn't my point, and by not quoting the post I quoted, the point of my post has been misrepresented.
So, represent it.

Your posts are about as pointless as mine.

Have you not been watching Classic Dr Who on Forces TV?

A lot of it was proper garbage.
They were made 40+ years ago and mostly aimed at children, with a nod to the adults. The vast majority of TV back then hasn't trained on.

You cannot compare them to anything made from Eccleston onwards.

The present mob have everything that the C21st BBC can muster and still can't build anything close to a coherent episode.
Not only have I been watching them on ForcesTV, but I've also got bookcases full of classic Dr Who on DVD (and some on VHS!).

Classic Dr Who was quite well written, if not a little formulaic (oh noes! Our base is under attack again!). The lack of budget tended to be seen on screen with poor special effects and compressed filming schedules meaning retakes were a luxury, but the fundamentals of the story usually worked and made sense. The major weakness in plotlines was usually when scripts needed to be stretched to fit the episode count, so 3 parters were stretched to 4, and 4 parters were stretched to 6).

However good it currently looks, if the stories are pants, then the stories are pants.

Not really a doctor who fan as such but am interested in the nostalgic element and seeing something I barely remember.
There was as website up ages ago with rebuilt episodes from the sound tapes and some stills. These were for the lost episodes. Seems gone now.
However I do remember some broadcasts of full length b/w stories on a sunday morning over 20 odd years ago on I think ukgold. And I dont think those ones are available now.
They were a bit boring . To me anyway. Lots of standing around and searching for someone that got lost. They someone else gets lost. More searching. All dragged out as long as possible.
Still the new 2022 one the other day would be an insult to childrens tv.

It's a wonderfully inclusive thing to do
I have lost track of the amount of people that have contacted me via the Birmingham and west Midlands Official Doctor Who Fan Forum (of which I am chairman and have the facebook access details) anyway not a day goes by when I dont see at least 3 emails from trans people saying they feel neglected by Doctor Who.
Some recent e mails to show the depth of feeling

"Hi I am fed up of Doctor Who not addressing trans peoples issues"
"When is Doctor Who going to address the issues that face trans people every day"
"Being trapped in a high rise flat in Edgebaston with no money and no food it's the final straw when I switch on Doctor Who and they won't talk about trans stuff"
"they did trans stuff back in the 60s with that bloke from Emmerdale Farm in a skirt thing why are they afraid to do it now"

It obviously ranks very high amongst the fanbase

p.s. I liked the 60's trans referenence, but you forgot they also did it in the 70's when Pertwee dressed up as a washer woman...

Being trans clearly doesn't make you a very original writer, clearly! The conspiracy theorists tracking the Doctor through time was done ages ago. It even had Peter Kay in it!

This isn't that unusual.

There's some pretty weird Star Trek Fanfic online like where Kirk & Spock are trapped on a planet and Spock enters Pon Farr.

He must mate or he dies yikes

I had forgotten that one

The Green Death (aka the one with the maggots) the one where he loses Jo at the end to the nut house professor and in real life Katy Manning who played Jo married him (the actor who played the professor)

Whoosh indeed though the harsh reality is that some of these fan forums get more than a little heated

Isn't that the origin of "slash" erotic fiction? As in Spock/ Kirk

Surely the progenitor of that stuff was the Janeway porn alternative fiction that popped up back in the mid to late 90s?

Usenet was a bit Wild West back in the day!

I think it unlikely as he has already had a recurring role as Craig Owens in Dr Who. Apart from that I doubt that the BBC could/would pay the kind of sallary that Corden can now command.
