Extinction - real budget SyFy stuff.

As a story not too bad, I've seen worse attempts at the idea.

CGI also not too bad really, at least in parts. Some bits very much SyFy level, some bits ok.

A certain costume though was laughably bad. It would have embarrassed 70s Doctor Who. Design was comical and execution was terrible.

I watched it through as it was enertaining enough to watch to the end but it wasn't that good.

Still well above the level of some of what Amazon calls 'content'.

Just watched Caliber and found it thoroughly enjoyable, some real edge of the seat moments.

Realistic too, no Hollywood special effects here and it's all the better for it.
Yep this passed the no laptop/phone test for both me and the wife last night, which is rare thing.

The familiarity of the landscape setting draws you in and the Shallow Grave/American Werewolf/Wicker Man vibe places it strongly ahead of the usual throwaway Made for Netflix fodder.

It's well paced and a good watch.
We watched it last night and thought it superb. thumbup

Im looking for a tv series, im fairly sure it was on netflix but its about a person / group of people that find themselves trapped in a social media / internet game where they have to do something and film it otherwise something happens to them.
Anyone recognise it? Sorry i'm a bit vague but I can't remember anything else about it!

No doubt mentioned earlier in the thread but my mate told me about The Detectorists and I've just watched the first episode. Love it, though how Gareth Keenan pulled that bird is beyond me.

I felt the twist was a good idea, but the way it was done just left more questions than answers. For the first half we're supposed to believe it's the usual humans vs aliens, which opens up questions such as where were the military, why were factory workers suddenly weapons experts or how could he override the biometric gun. But after the twist I was left wondering why the humans would pretend to be aliens in the first place, why synths feel pain or who would create child versions of them. A better way would have been to show they were synths from the start who thought they were protecting humans, unaware it was they who drove them from the planet.
