The Apostle

Looked good on the trailer, but it was two hours of googly eyed overacting. Martin Sheen tried, but we were laughing our heads off at the faces pulled by the leading man.

Annihilation. No doubt has been mentioned here a couple of years ago but I've only just got Netflix so it's new to me.

Absolutely loved it. Really immersive and interesting film which looked great and had a scary mutated zombie bear.

Sacrifice - Derren Brown.

Admittedly I really like his past stuff and am fascinated with how subliminal triggers can be placed in the mind of individual.

I watched Only the Brave last night on the back of this. I say watched, I had to fast forward about 40 minutes of turgid crap in the middle, but dear god it was awful.

Obviously not knocking the guys/true story, but the film... dear me.
Watched this Saturday night - it was middling to say the least, despite the tragic circumstances. The actual fire-fighting bits were a non-event. Every character was a total cliché and the themes of sacrifice and redemption were incredibly ham-fisted.

Some of the reviews of the female parts were pretty funny - Andie MacDowell basically being an extra and Jennifer Connelly's most meaningful scene being giving a horse a sponge down.

That said, it was reasonable entertainment for a Saturday slumped on the sofa.

Good grief. Not one to save for Date Night.

Harrowing.
We watched this last night , brutally harrowing I agree sir

Think it deserved more than the 6.7 IMDB rating .

I said similar on the film thread, could have done with a trim about 30 minutes too long.

As you are aware it is based on a true story and the only "invented" character is the character played by Jeff Bridges and he is a composite character rather than a pure invention.

Given that all of the Fire team were cast one for one for real people, it is very likely that the original team were rather clichéd and to make them less so would no longer make it a true story.

There wasn't any female members of the team so there weren't any in the movie.

I liked it but then I usually like a more relaxed pace of movie. It is no Transformers or Marvel movie smile

Really enjoying Haunting of Hill House at the moment.

It's not quite as scary as all the articles make out, but has some chilling moments, and the build up and expansion of the story is set up very well.

Never watched a horror series before, but it carries itself well...very good acting turns from the young family cast members too.

Agree completely, good series, not sure what drugs some of the reviewers were on though

Its quite similar to the American Horror Series franchise which is also on Netflix

Four episodes into Daredevil S3 - holy crap it really shows just how much better it is than the others. Just brilliant thus far.

Just finished it - so so good.

Some of the other Marvel series are pretty good but Daredevil is a level above.

Watched series 5 over the last few days, usual top quality. Worth a watch for anyone who hasn’t seen it.

I never got into this, but perhaps should give it another try.
I thought the Punisher was one of the better ones too.

Iron Fist is by far the worst of them all though imo, its just cringey.
