Nightflyers coming on Friday, was looking forward to that one but it seems like it had a poor reception in the US. So we shall see.

Watched it.

It's OK but never really lives up the billing as Event Horizon but for the small screen.

Still, an interesting premise. However, and it's a major spoiler so please only read this if you don't intend to watch it...

The ending is absolute garbage and will make you question why you watched the whole thing. It's one of those 'there is no answer' type endings

It's from a short book/novella by GRR Martin (Game of Thrones) back in the 80's I believe so I assume there will be not be a second series.

There's a bit of a blurb about it in my TV guide this week and they say it could be some sort of new sci fi soap opera with loads of seasons. They said GRR Martin wasn't involved because of GOT contracts, but he's seen it, and liked it.

I know it’s not an undiscovered new show but I’ve just started watching breaking bad again.

It’s still fantastic years later. It’s interesting to note the lack of smart phones and everyone wearing really baggy trousers.

I think it’s the only series I’ve watched twice, apart from comedy like father ted or black adder.

Has anyone else re watched a series? I’m thinking about game of thrones again next as I’m sure I missed loads when I binged through it the first time.

I prefer the older stuff actually, despite them being played to death. Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc shouldn't just be catered for the younger crowd with their obsession for the latest "must watch", often overhyped show or film, but should be for all ages and want to see older programmes.
It's a paid for service at the end of the day, there is nothing it 'should be' other than what the bods and Netflix decide they want it to be.

They decided some time a go to move away from the model you describe of having mostly legacy shows and films, and have made a relentless effort to broadcast more 'original' content - sometimes that is broadcasting rights, sometimes it is the full production of the show or movie.

If you want access to legacy shows the best bet is to buy them on DVD, or in soft copy, as there is no promises that Netflix is going to keep anything available in perpetuity.

While there might not be lots of titles you recognise, there are lots of excellent shows that you won't get anywhere else.

I've revisited quite a few recently. House, Luther, Dexter, Sherlock, Black Adder.

Currently back with Anthony Bourdain and Parts Unknown. 12 seasons of utterly brilliant foody/travelogue television. Very poignant now he's no longer with us.

POLAR - I put this on not expecting much as a bit of background noise but it was absolutely brilliant. I laughed out loud when little britain turned up and almost switched off but it worked in a perverted kind of way.

Beautifully filmed, had a "Happy" (the series) feel about it.

This is why Netflix is excellent, they know exactly what they are doing and i hope that they are ready for Apple and Disney when they get up to speed.

i liked the opening of Polar but lost interest after and gave up, as it is pretty st, and for me considering how much they spend, some movies are 100 million, quality is dire sometimes.

The only two I've re-watched all the way through are 24 and The Sopranos...

Did any of you ever watch Spotless? I might rewatch it, the 1 and only season was great.

I thought it was excellent too - surprised they couldn’t get a second series out of it

Yup,

I've seen Game of Thrones twice and am considering a third before the new season starts! Would be a good time to rewatch.

I'm currently watching Sons of Anarchy again, partially because the Mrs wants to see other things I'd like to see and I like to have a program on the go if she goes to bed earlier than me.

Would also watch Friday Night Lights and The Shield again if they come on/are available here.

Definitely watch The Shield again, it is utterly fantastic.
And a heads up that the SOA spin-off 'Mayans MC' starts on 2nd Feb on BBC2 of all channels!

I missed the shield. I think i started it but couldn't get into it. Worth another go?

Loving S2 of the Punisher, even if Mr Castles gruff accent is annoying at times. Still no idea what the background of the girl is though, they seem to be playing those cards very close to their chests.

The Shield is good, but you need to get past the terrible camera work in EP 1 (pilot). Once they sorted that out (3 hours in) it was well worth a watch.
