Anyone got some recommendations for some proper healthy Peanut Butter. I've heard good things of MyProtein's crunchy and natural offerings. Slightly worried I might down a tub in one go though! laugh

Any other suggestions? Must be natural with no added rubbish!

MODS - Please do not move this to the Food forum! They're are not a particularly healthy bunch in there! smile

Make your own it's really simple and you add whatever you want or even other nuts to give some great flavours

Buy some peanuts, place in blender, press the button, blend, add salt if you like, done.

It's that easy.

Or whole earth peanut butter. You can buy it in Tesco and Asda and such. No added sugar.

Purchased some earlier this afternoon from Holland & Barratt! smile

Not bad. Think I'll try some of the MyProtein stuff as well.

PB2: http://amzn.to/RCjdIx

Apparently, it's the best. MFPers recommend it.

Doesn't removing the fat defeat the purpose? Do you add water to it? confused

Good for protein. Yes, add water and stir into a paste. I'm a cheapskate so you can guess what I go for.

I'd say! Low fat is what I keep away from. Yuk. Low fat this, low fat that, skimmed milk, yuk spreads and look where it's got us in the last 30+ years.

Even Flora are apparently going to market butter now.

Anyway, back to Peanut B. Another marmite food, love it or hate it.

I've tried the lot. You'd think Sun Pat with their history would be good - nah, you might as well buy a jar of 60p Aldi.

Making your own is probably best, but if no time then Whole Earth (crunchy) wins by a mile.

Just about to try their latest 'Threenut' Butter
Cashews, Hazlenuts and Peanuts lick

Whole Earth know how to market a good thing.

I think I'm going to try some almond butter as well. If I get time I'll pop in to Whole Foods Market in Piccadilly Circus later and see what they have to offer. Amazing place, just don't take a trolley round there or you'll be looking at a loooong receipt with a large number at the end! smile

Be warned - Almond butter is more addictive than meth.

Oh, the reason why it's beneficial that fat has been removed from PB2 is down to calories. Normal PB is high in calories. It might be healthy but YOU WILL GET FAT IF YOU EAT TOO MUCH. But you're welcome to believe eating healthily will always result in weight loss.

What's your requirement in PB? Or do you just like it? I've been spooning PB into my mouth for the last 800 days (in controlled measures).

Like avocados(which I now love), it was one of those foods I absolutely hated as a child and have never eaten until now.

I'm looking at ways of getting more sources of healthy fats, so it makes sense to give peanut / almond butter etc a go, and incorporate them in to my diet. As you know Hoof I'm quite pleased with my progress this year, so trying to tweak things to suit.

Is that ok with you? winksmile
