k off you See for example they just said the pagoda sold for £3000. That's sod all really. Quite clearly they didn't show more than a fraction of the hours that went into chopping/shaping/assembling and especially the grinding/polishing back to shiny aluminium that went on to make that. If it had been real world where they'd had to pay the £25k for the scrap plane shell that was mentioned at the start, and the real cost of transporting it about instead of the TV programme budget paying for it, and the real daily cost of appropriate craftsmen to do stuff like that polishing ... no way could they have turned a profit.

Some of the other stuff was lethal though, the chassis on the rickshaw wasn't the issue, more the big sharp lumps of metal waiting to catch passengers in the head.

Neither Easyjet nor Ryanair would be interested. Their fleet strategy revolves around placing large orders for new aircraft at a discount, operating them for a few years and then flogging them off. Both have an average fleet age of 5.5 years.

Whilst I liked the lamps, very few people are going to splash out hundreds on them...what's wrong with the bona-fide recycling of the ally by melting it?
Would the seats not suit a cinema? Community hall?
As many have said above, factor in the true labour cost of these items (and the property cost at Wembley retail park) and none of it looks particularly bargaintastic...

The lamps were fantastic and I was thinking I'd love to have one of those. My high estimate was £100 but to hear they sold for £700 was a bit of a shock.
Loved the home office too, needed finishing off but was good value for it's size.
I really liked the massive floor lamp too with the head made from two sinks welded together.
Glad to see Kevin McCloud doesn't go for all the health and safety cobblers. Up a massive ladder in his barn stuffing old manky insulation into the roof with bare arm and hands. Having spent enough hours crawling around that stuff doing wiring mods on aircraft I can safely say he went to bed that night itching all over

Nothing. But this was a programme about up cycling and being creative.In contrast, when it came to the cabin plastics the idea of shredding it seemed to really impress KM where it didn't with other parts of the airframe.
I'm still not convinced that the gains outweigh the total cost of transporting the airframe by road, storing it in a heated, lit warehouse for four months (?) then carting all the stuff to London, renting shop space from Habitat......just melt it down FFS.
