Did anyone else spot the dildo laying on the beach as the crab walked across the screen at the start of the last adverts segment?
They talked about it on the show. One of the girls pointed out it wasn't a very good one . It appeared to have a lump of sh*t on it - probably sand but I like to think otherwise.nicanary said:

Recommend this - first episode was great.
Lots of upthemselves millenials against upthemselves early middleagers - baby boomers.
Old Frank is a classic - very capable 66 yr old, listens to nobody.
Last night, found a beach, made fire, built a camp and then nearly drowned himself and threatened to walk!!! All in 2 days.
Young cockney manque fool on young team Ben - put everyone's backs up.
Usual reality TV conflicts - if yo have issues with your parents or your kids - this is your chance to see them played out painfully

On the face of it, an interesting twist on the now established formula. It would be very interesting to see an honest account of how different generations face the same sort of adversity.
However, you just know that like the series which preceded it, it will be edited to show whatever narrative the producers want to show.
So odds are that we'll end up with both groups messing up massively at first, not trusting each other, then coming together and working cooperatively to redeem themselves showing that all age groups are equal and working together is the key .... All nicely 'on message'.
As always, they really seem to find some 'special' people to take part. Given that there have been multiple series of this, any new contestants should know exactly the form - what expect, the pitfalls to avoid - yet some still seem to be totally surprised that it's a bit difficult to fend for yourself without the niceties of modern civilisation.

This is what I was going to write, there will be a clear 'look what we can achieve if we all work together' message spat out at the end. Which, I suppose, is true and likely to be very applicable in these circumstances. However, you just know that like the series which preceded it, it will be edited to show whatever narrative the producers want to show.

I'm enjoying it so far. Frank, despite his tendency to dismiss the ideas of anyone <50 and/or female, is a good egg but just stuck in that generational divide - he won't change but I suspect by the end he'll have changed his viewpoint as others (much younger and probably of the fairer sex) are more capable than he is at certain tasks.
That cockney bloke is a PITA and needs to pipe down. The young lad that left I think will regret that decision for a long time but maybe he was just a little too young/dependent.

these are not spoilers. You only have to put things under 'spoiler' text on subjects clearly marked "No Spoilers" in the title. (see the instruction thread)This is a forum to discus shows that have already aired, and as such if the default position was to still 'spoiler' everything then there wouldn't be any unhidden discussion would there?

The poor kid didn't do the simplest job. - boil the water. He got what he deserved. I would have punched his lights out if he had poisoned me like that.
He was a total waster ... normally you'd expect some other contestants speaking up for him but just about everyone was either glad to see the back of him or indifferent, it seemed.Seriously, how can you just ignore something important like boiling the drinking water because you are 'bored' with it and wander off to do something that you find more interesting. What a selfish idiot. You do wonder why the others actually drank the obviously bad water but IIRC something similar happened in a previous year when the women contestants drunk bad water because their doctor gave them the OK.
I did think that the producers were lining him up for a 'redemption' storyline like they did with a similar waste of space on a previous year, who did sweet FA the whole time but then 'found' a beehive or something towards the end, making him a hero who had redeemed himself ....
I missed the fact that the kid had cocked up the water duty.
Wasting the miraculously found oil...ahem....on a fire though, that fella deserved a biff on the hooter...and then making out he had really hurt himself...classic misdirection behaviour to distract from the fact he's a slimy st, and seek sympathy, what a nasty piece of work. At least the old bloke is just a gobste, not a lying weasel.

Anyone watch last night's episode?
Despite the cameraman (Phil) getting voted off by the other inhabitants and choosing to leave of his own accord, it didn't feel the right way to deal with someone that didn't quite 'fit' into the group. He was a bit of a male chicken at times (including the skinny dipping and not covering up - bit insensitive and selfish to me) but they should have come together as a group and tried to work things out - of course, the editing was such that perhaps we didn't see everything .

They all seem remarkably clean and well kept in terms of beard growth, underarm hair etc, and plenty of changes of clothes (except when it's raining it seems). And none of them are showing any sign of being short of food? So I take it there is a hair and makeup trailer round the back of the trees set this time, next door to the one where the producers release the drugged turkeys and iguanas from?
Why are none of them building any sorts of traps, or sewing together some sort of net that they could leave in the sea?
