I thought Eileen had left for good with Nicola?
She said she was homesick, it was never going to last anyway, Nicola wasn't even a relative. Another daft storyline.Looks like Johnny's really blown it now, he hasn't got a cat in hells chance of winning custody.
This Henry Newton/Gemma Winter love affair is potty, who dreams this tripe up?

Tasty 80 something 911 Targa, shame about the plot...
Henry Newton said he had "bought" the Rovers, but surely his family own it anyway...ergo NEWTON & Ridley Anyone else think Jude's wife is a right miserable old cow, although I suppose being stuck with Jude (aka Laurence Olivier) you can hardly blame her.....

Peter and Leanne own it don't they? Peter is selling his half. This plot doesnt make sense.
Maybe Henry has bought it from them? It's Peter and Churchill the dog who own it isn't it? Leanne's sister. The plot is pretty stupid though, one minute he says he'll be written out of the family fortunes if he doesn't marry this other woman which is why he's doing it, next minute he's bought a pub for Jemma and him.
Ches just looks on and gurns.

Agreed, it's nonsensical. Jemma can be given much better story lines than this, she's one of their stars at present. I'm caught up and I just don't get the pub ownership bit. Surely someone there would know/ be consulted/ be advised?
Surely the Rovers is just a "tied" pub rather than a free house? It's not owned by Newton & Ridley, simply under contract to sell only that company's beers and ales. The business is free to sell itself to whoever it wants, with Newton & Ridley consulted as to the suitability of the new owner.I think (but may be wrong) that Toyah hinted that she would also sell her share since she had accepted that Peter would not be renewing their relationship. Anyway, isn't the licence in her name rather than Peter's?
Whatever, I see no reason why Henry wouldn't be free to buy the pub notwithstanding his position as an heir to the Newton & Ridley empire. It's an entirely separate thing.
PS What business would do best in a backstreet shop in a low-income area? Hardware or vintage clothing (perhaps only purchased once a year for a party or halloween) ? Bonkers.
Regarding the Rovers, as I understand it there are three types of Pub.
Freehold. That is I own the bricks and mortar, either bought with my own funds or mortgaged and am free to buy my beer from anywhere I want, even a supermarket. I am responsible for paying the wages of my staff.
Tenanted. The brewery owns the bricks and mortar, I pay them a weekly rent, (say £600pw), but I have to buy my beer from THEM, any profit I make over and above my costs are mine. I am responsible for paying the wages of my staff.
Managed. I just work as a manager for the brewery on a fixed wage. The brewery pay all the staff wages.

I'm guessing that the Rovers is tenanted. Therefore when it is sold to anyone they are buying the stock, the remainder of the lease, and the goodwill, which I should imagine is quite an important part. That explains why it's had so many owners over the years - the price will be nowhere near the cost of bricks and mortar.Freehold. I think this "Henry" stuff is going to end in tears for Gemma.
Can't fathom out what's going on with Steve's hair, one minute he's nearly bald at the front then the next week he's sporting a thick thatch, same with Tyrone Dobbs and Shaun Tully.

That's my understanding too, although a back street boozer in Weatherfield (Salford) wouldn't exactly break the bank, terraced houses are lucky to fetch 40K in some parts.

Johnny is a complete tosser. He "loves" whoever he's with at any one time, and whoever agrees with whatever he's thinking. Selfishness. You can't blame that attitude on MS. Liz is best well away from him.
Has nobody yet sussed out Kayla's odd behaviour? You'd think someone at Speed Daal would have noticed her surname was the same as Neil's, and even that her address was the same as his. Not very suspicious in Weatherfield. Not paranoid like me.
PS Anyone else think Bethany has lost weight? She's looking very slim round the waist these days.
