Catherine Tydesley (Eva) has posted a photo to her Instagram, which some of you shall probably enjoy.

I'm not sure what 'points' she's trying to get across.......

There must have been a nip in the air when that photograph was taken.

I think they should make Carol a permanent cast member. I like her, plus Shaun needs a side-kick.

We established a few pages ago that the Rovers was almost certainly a tenancy, owned by Newton and Ridley. How are Johnny and Jenny in a position to restyle the pub and rename it without permission?

I predict that the pub will stay exactly as it is. Johnny and Jenny are just having a laugh at the local's expense for not turning up to their previous opening bash.

Chances of deciding to do pub renovations on Monday, doing plans sourcing quotes, agreeing work , and having builders in and working on a Wednesday and ready to reopen on the Friday.......even slimmer.

^ plus planning consent needed to change it from a pub to a wine bar? First time ever a builder has been used that doesnt work on the street aka Gary.

I thought Jenny said the work was being done by Gary and Seb, although as I said I don't think there is actually any work being done.

Indeed, I'm pretty sure they are winding the locals up, the only change will be the name over the door.

OK, Coronation street cull time.

You forum regulars are producers for the day:-

Who would you get rid off, as past their sell by date?

I'll start:-

Kirk
Beth
Eileen
Billy
Rana
Michelle
Robert
Yasmeen
Fiz
Tyrone
Holly
Ruby
That bald headed bloke in background in the factory that never speaks
Shaun Tully (He's getting tiresome now)
Sally's sister
Eccles

Might be a bit drastic, but (imo) these are deadwood, get the payroll down a bit.....smile

I think you might be enjoying more dramatic monologues than most of the rest of us can take. Talk about night of the long knives ...

My targets would be confined to the simply appalling Jude , the deeply tiresome Michelle and devil spawn Simon (not because he can't act well - rather the reverse, as he infuriates me beyond words).

And as I have said before , more than once, the more the emergency services , hospitals and police stations feature , the less convincing the whole show becomes. It is now very nearly every bloody episode - lazy , lazy , lazy (as Fred Eliot might have put it . I said it's ......)

It's true it's got more annoying recently. The numerous "social/society" storylines being rammed in and of course the constant police presence.
Cull targets for adding nothing
Fizz
Kirk and bird
Ty
Ken- is he still a character ?
Simon - his 2 minutes of gang life ended without being stabbed unfortunately
Ginger rubber face in the kebab shop
Rita- long overdue retirement
Audreh - likewise altho prime silly story at mo
Vicar- done that role to death and addiction
Cured
Blinded rapist- ridiculous storyline

The last 2 years have been a mad dash into "putting society right" issue storylines and it's lost it's way a bit. Occasional glimpses of comedy gold still pop up to keep the interest however!

He's been in the last few episodes (being moody for a change).

It's Robert who's mysteriously vanished, but still mentioned from time to time*

  • edit - hadn't watched Wednesday's episodes at the time I wrote that - I now see he's re-appeared!
