Good shout - I wonder if there's a little left in Chuck's storyline yet?

There would probably need to be I guess, as there aren't that many more storylines to tie up before we get to Saul from BB, are there?

From memory the "loose ends" are:

- disappearance of Kim from Jimmy's life
- Jimmy setting up a law practice as Saul (after his temporary ban on practising ends)
- disappearance of Nacho from the Salamanco/Tuco storyline

We already have:

- Chuck presumably out of Jimmy's life
- Hector Salamanco in a wheelchair
- Mike working for Gus
- Jimmy well on the way to being Saul

Have I missed any?
The co-creator interviewed here. Chuck is not done, but in what way is to be decided.

Hmmm, maybe it's my interpretation of your wording, but it seems to me that the co-creator is saying that Chuck will, at the very least, face serious consequences from the fire and he doesn't rule out death.

There's some discussion over on Reddit about Kim's storyline - one suggestion that rings true for me is that we've already seen the start of how she exits and it's not a happy path...

In the final episode, the morning after Kim's accident, Jimmy offers Kim ibuprofen, or "the Good Stuff". Kim's reply is "Always the Good Stuff". Then we see her display addictive personality traits - obsessively selecting a huge amount of dvds (10) to watch in a binge and repeatedly watching one. She also blows off her work commitments.

It's probably worth adding that America has been gripped by a prescription (opiate based) pain relief drug epidemic since the mid-90s (see chart below). Kim getting addicted, moving on to Heroin when her prescription runs out and possibly overdosing would tie in very well with what has been happening a lot in the US over the past 20 years, not forgetting that BB is all about drugs.

Now remember Chuck's (possibly final) words to Jimmy - you hurt everyone around you, even though you don't mean to. Who gave Kim the first strong pain killers?!

I liked that... it was a bit of a nod to binge watching on Netflix!

How many prequels can they spin off until Cranston appears?

It's a great series but must have a finite lifespan.

Completely forgot about Better Call Saul and so have binged Series 3 on netflix, cant remember if I have even seen series 2 so I might have to go back and watch that.

Have been finding the Mike, Fring and Nacho storyline more interesting shame there hasnt been more of that, still a great show though.

The Kim theory is plausible, my only question being if Kim's life falls apart due to drugs would Jimmy then be so fine working with drug dealers etc?

Finite yes, but I'm fairly sure the first 3 series only cover about a year in total -May to Oct 2002, breaking bad doesn't start until 2008.

This week's episode has Jimmy expressly mentioning 2003, when he gets home and talks to Kim about her DVD binge. So, slightly further on than your estimate, I think - but still a good way away from stepping on BB's toes.

Yes, 2003. The date was shown outside the courtroom, and also on Kim's cheque.

I'm wondering if Chuck's death might be treated as suspicious. As far as anyone knows from the last time they saw him, he had turned his problems around, and both Jimmy and Howard could be seen to have motive.

After the calls to the electricity supply company and the smashed up meter and all the holes in the walls, the evidence wouldn't stack up to try to pin it on someone I don't think. Would be an interesting twist though.

We have a LONG time to contemplate before we see which direction they go with it!

Great.

An inability to use the spoiler tag has ruined it.

What are you whining about?

It's been three and a bit days since it was released. If you want to leave it that long to watch it then I suggest you do what most normal people do and stay out of this thread until you do.

Agreed, it's a bit off to come into a thread discussing a programme that aired 3 days ago and moan that there's spoilers in it!

Agreed, although at this point pretty much anything is possible as I believe season 4 hasn't even been written yet.

Seems likely to be around the middle of next year. At least it's when and not if though.

Surely it's your inability to not click a thread that will obviously have spoilers in? I avoid this thread from Monday night until I've seen it.

The long established convention in the TV forum is that when the programme has aired it's fine to discuss it without spoilers. Unless someone is watching at US pace or torrenting and the thread is following at UK pace, in which case UK air time is the point at which it's open season.
