Mythbusters - The one about jumping the shark?

Not even remotely surprised to be honest. The latest series made no attempt to become more 'educationial' and the excuses to get rid of Kari, Tory and Grant were just that, excuses.
Plus as mentioned here already, they have basically run out of myths to bust.
Shame but it's time has come.
I agree. They simply failed to deliver on their promise of a back-to-basics Mythbusters that favoured fact over explosions. Plus as mentioned here already, they have basically run out of myths to bust.

As sad as I am about the passing of this show I think it has definitely had its time, the removal of the 'Junior Mythbusters' was supposed to herald a return to the shows roots, more science and engineering. Sadly as others have posted it has simply not managed to deliver on its promise (some episodes showed some glimmer of hope - but just not enough), the tinfoil hatter inside me says it was all a plot to finish the show off, however, I think it has just not hit the mark they wanted so it has been wound up.
Discovery used to be a factual channel, it’s now mostly entertainment (some exceptions to that I grant you) shows, which lets face it is all to do with bolstering viewing figures.

And so to the opening episode of the much publicised 'Final Season'.
Talk about the thinnest of thin gruel.
After the first ten minutes you were thinking "I'm sure they'll start the show shortly...", then by the half-way mark it was "there's no show is there, hopefully they'll at least do a 'Best of...' from the show's past" and by the end it turns out that they will be wasting another full episode on the history of the show and the Kari/Grant/Tori team (who were, of course, the best ones on it) seem to be only back for that one clipshow episode.
Did they run out of budget? Or have a planned show go so terribly wrong they couldn't make an episode from it.
Poor Show. For Shame.

I had exactly the same train of thought, I was hoping for an interesting show to cheer me up after yet another cancelled PPL qualifying cross country, how wrong I was.Talk about the thinnest of thin gruel.

That episode is like the NFL pro bowl. Its put on before the superbowl so that people still have a mind to watch it. Had that been at the end of the series the vast majority of viewers wouldn't have bothered.
