Interesting. I vaguely remember a brouhaha when he left.
"The critically acclaimed and popular HBO comedy series Silicon Valley came to an end this past Sunday, and fans got an unexpected treat when it appeared the show was going to address what happened to Erlich Bachman. The character was played by T.J. Miller on the series for its first four seasons, but Miller pretty publicly left the show at the end of Season 4. The exit wasn’t necessarily harmonious, as Miller spoke candidly in interviews about his dislike of executive producer Alec Berg and fellow cast members, and in turn the cast made allusions to the fact that the set was a more pleasant place with Miller gone."

It always felt to me that it was like 'Yes, Minister' in accuracy...and, it was!

"In response to Musk's comments, actor T.J. Miller, who plays Erlich on the show, pointed out that "if the billionaire power players don't get the joke, it's because they're not comfortable being satirized... I'm sorry, but you could tell everything was true. You guys do have bike meetings, motherfker." Other software engineers who also attended the same premiere stated that they felt like they were watching their "reflection".[35]
In January 2017, in an audience interaction by Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, Gates recounted the episode in Silicon Valley in which the protagonists try to pitch their product to various venture capitalists, saying it reminded him of his own experiences.[36] "

Sad it had to end. I had assumed it would end with them producing the perfect thing and living happily ever after as billionaires. Instead they accidentally produced something seemingly from a popular movies franchise. I liked that, at least by my reading, it might be out there ready to escape when someone plugs in that thumb drive Richard misplaced too

I read it as that Monica may have "acquired" it for her new job at the, ahem, "non profit organisation in DC". Still curious how Lori ended up where she did too. The finale wasn't close to the ending I'd anticipated at all, but I'll take it - sad to see it end though.

Didn't even consider the prison situation, though it seemed apt. She had gotten in bed with the chinese and that amoral Chilean bloke. (was it Chile?)The finale wasn't close to the ending I'd anticipated at all, but I'll take it - sad to see it end though.

This has been one of my favourite programmes since it started. I was sad to hear it was ending this series but nothing lasts forever. Am I alone in finding the ending a bit disappointing? I mean it wasn't terrible but I was hoping for something of a happy end after all the cr@p they've been through. The last 10 or 15 mins just felt a bit flat. Good to see they included Richard's original mentor.

It was always going to be that way i think. They're consistent struggle from day one was not getting funded, then when they did it just brought mayhem. Every season touched on why they didn't take the 10mil but it looked like they had little regret - they did the right thing for what they always set out to do - and that was to protect and uphold the privacy of users. The last few seasons got terrible, barely remember even laughing. A shame as it started so well, think it really missed ther Erich character towards the end to give it a bit of comedy balance. The pseudo-computer-science was bizarre but could just about get behind at the start, but the explanation for Son of Anton + Middle Out compression + Dinesh was just plain nonsensical and a let down as a way to explain why it had to end how it did.
Loved it, in my top four this year (Boys, Barry, SV and Watchmen), for me it kept it's high standards.
