The young girl's story was so incredible as to feel unlikely - sadly it was true.
She was not at that house every night and he gained entry and found her room with her father asleep next door and assaulted her. Once it became clear it was so brazen I said to my wife this will not be this guy's first offence - it transpired he had been assaulting two other girls for over twenty years.seemingly undetected
He appeared from the tracked CCTV to have walked some distance to the scene and then casually back home - surely some work had to be done on how he isolated her room in that house on that day
He is one sick individual
There was certainly a lot of targeting going on. Known to the family maybe? TBH, my first thoughts were either the girl was lying, or the Dad was involved somehow. Apparently neither. I would have liked to have heard the Dad’s statement, as the door being unlocked, the paedo knowing where to go, the daughter not telling him, lots didn’t add up.
He was a pathetic little monster.
That said, if the girl had yelled, no court in the land would convict a parent for what ensued.

Yes. To be clear, unwittingly. It was a strange thing to happen. Always lock your doors, sometimes worst case scenarios actually happen.
I’m guessing the daughter doesn’t stay over so much now.
Awful case, but I did chuckle that the creeper paid people to show their belly button and shout ‘BELLY BUTTON’. Absolute crank.

This .....completely unwittingly maybe but this.
Work colleague, mate, relative even. He knew where to go, and when, that he could get in the house and was chilled enough to stroll home
I really struggle with it being entirely opportunistic given the circumstances; they mentioned he had apps like snapchat, so if I wonder if he had identified the victim beforehand and done some planning. It’s not entirely without precedent; there was another horrific crime in the North East where a young child aged 6 was snatched from the bath (her mum was in an adjacent room), taken away in a car and raped. There are some seriously sick individuals out there.Work colleague, mate, relative even. He knew where to go, and when, that he could get in the house and was chilled enough to stroll home

As side from that, he broke into someone's home, raped an 11 year old and then admitted to 10 others and got only 22 years... holy cow!
What is going on in this country...

I don't think Dad was involved, the Police would have been through his life with a fine tooth comb. No, C4 were very, very careful to use the absolute minimum details about the victim and her family. I wept when we watched the Girl in the interview room, knowing my own 11yo Daughter was asleep upstairs.
Kudos to the Copper who must have worked endlessly to piece together and track that sub-human scum from the victims home all the way back to his own from thousands of hours of CCTV.

There's no question on my mind that this guy had been in that house before - he could be a local tradesman that used that to scout houses. I accept the young girl did not recognise him as someone she had encountered previously but if the father had the slightest inkling this guy might inflict this on his daughter he should be inside doing a similar number of years
To be fair, at first - Birmingham and a 11 year old girl, I thought Asian/Family suspect.
I'm sure he knew she was there, that's not an opportunistic crime. They hardly mentioned the father at all which I did find a bit weird but maybe he refused to be part of the program?
What strange perversions too, Belly Buttons? Lock him up until he finishes himself, supply the rope.

Being told by those in charge in recent years not jump to conclusions and speculate about stuff, it is not too outlandish to wonder if this bloke maybe had a specific address in mind, where it was likely he would find a young girl, and would not be disturbed while in the house. Obviously we should not draw any conclusions from the absence of any input by the girl's family in the programme, just seems a bit strange.

Morning all, what police / crime shows are the most similar to 24 Hours in police custody? Is Forensics, the real CSI the next best thing?
Cheers

There are some decent youtube channels reviewing 'real crime' stories and events, not quite 24 HIPC format but worth watchingCheers

kers just never change and always reoffend. They should never be allowed out. I don't think many people are beyond rehabilitation. These beasts completely are.
