He and Toby Jones were on Radio 4 'Front Row' earleir this week discussing this and the detectoring...MC has his switched on during filming and is doing it for real'ish, whilst TJ hasn't a clue.

MC found some Roman gold recently is awaiting 'treasure status' or whatever they call it to see if he can get a payout!

Yep, he wrote an article in 'The Searcher' about it.

Great to have it back, and on strong form too.

What happened to Lance's lottery win that was mentioned in S1 I think? Seems like it would help with his current predicament...

If you are reading this and have never watched it, do give it a go.

I watched the first 2 series this year after being told about it recently. It is wonderful.

Hello there!

Definitely a story line developing with Tim the site manager. Will be interesting to see where that's heading.

The last episode was certainly setting things up for the next four.

My guess, the site manager gets the find (as to not spoil anything from last night) trashed / dug up. MC quits, huge falling out with missus, spends his time metal detecting and TJ who stuffs it up with his missus - finds big haul in the field from the first episode whilst trying to fend off Simon & Garfunkel.

THe photos disappearing was odd.

Loved Marvellous man doing his steely look, he has played some serious baddies in films.

I think Andy gave his phone to the other chap before or when they were looking at the floor, and he still had it when he pulled the tarpaulin across?
That was my first thought when he mentioned that the pictures were deleted, the other bloke definitely had the phone at some point.
I will watch it again tonight to double check.

I am not too sure the scene with Lance trying to sort out his boat sickness contributed much but the scenes with simon and garfunkel we brilliant.

Yeah, I'd guess at that...that Tim bloke is clearly up to something.
Simon and G are as ever, brilliant.

Where he was sat on the edge of the river? Yes I saw that, that was good.

I thought the site manager Tim just saw what Andy was doing as a hindrance to the building project he is running... and the fact Andy had now actually found something would create a major set back...

..But did Tim already think Andy stood a good chance of possibly finding something - hence last week when he was telling Andy to try digging further away?

My brother is a commercial archeologist as opposed to a university funded research archaeologist.

Most areas will have a good idea of what they might have locally. As such when a developer wants planning permission they need approval from the county archaeologist. They may ask for various levels of survey from a desk based assessment to a 'watching brief, someone standing over the diggers as they start to work, through to aerial surveys, geophysics and actual trench digging.

If anything is found at any stage a report goes up the chain and its likely that they will need to go to the next level. They developer has to fund this themselves. If they find something significant it can add years to a development and millions in costs.

So there is sometimes 'pressure' to not find anything....
