Oh, only just started watching this series. My point stands though detectorist "chapters" just aren't needed.
True, a smidgen of poetic licence has been applied with this dynamic. I think of the series/story arcs as a world within a world, with all the enemies, issues, emotions and joys/lows of the accepted "real world", only reduced to a microscopic scale. It is exercised brilliantly and I find it the most calming thing to watch I have ever experienced.I literally want to live in Danebury and go detecting with them all, to find out more about their lives and their histories. Russell for example, what is his story? Minted ex engineer? Lives with mum? Equally the lesbian couple, how did they meet? Hugh, what does he do for a living and why is he so awkward?
Fantastic characters, its almost a shame this is not on every single day, it would be more compelling than no-marks eating testicles in a jungle or faded porn stars dressing up as animals in a gaudy house.

Ah.Them faking finds though, that is new. AT the start, they were simply rvials...and annoying, and a bit stupid (like normal people).
This latest version has taken it a step further.

I think it's better than that. It's as good as anything I've seen on TV for a long time, and unlike anything else.
I agree, it is so well made, and so different. Hence why I asked for the same style, and out of all the answers only Early Doors is actually the same and that is old now.Halb said:

I loved the scene where she was throwing potatoes at Lance.
The fact his car sounds knackered and he doesn't seem to realise is starting to annoy me.
Yeah I liked that. The fact his car sounds knackered and he doesn't seem to realise is starting to annoy me.
THe weakness of Lance did annoy me though
His car, I think he likes it having a personality, he could basically estimate the eta of his daughter because he could recognise the car.

This series isn’t doing it for me quite yet....great cinematography but script just isn’t up to the standard of the other series IMO.
I was thinking the same. boxst said:
