Black Water and Rogue (2007)
Black Water is on Horror channel tonight at 9pm, Rogue is on Netflix, (they are both Australian films about killy crocodiles)

This Final Score thing that's on Sky Movies and Sudden Death (van Damme).

Terrorists threaten a stadium in order to get to a politician they don't like. The "hero" has to save his kin as well as save the day.

Executive Decision
Air Force One

might be a case of synchronicity like the others...or a copy?

Not sure about this one!

Both shot in Turkey? (I have no idea).

Anyone else think A Star is Born and Bohemian Rhapsody (albeit a true story) are a bit close for comfort.

Musical drama - check.
Struggling main character - check.
Same month of release - check.

It's the release date that I was on about. Both films could have literally come out at any time in the last 25 years but came out within a fortnight of eachother...

All the many scripts that get made, all the many that don't. Zeitgeists happen, I can see passing and localised Zeitgeists occurring. But something catches hold, and takes root.

One is usually an outright winner, the nature of the thing and the whole of the thing the two will normally be compared to each other heavily.
I think this is exactly what happened with 'The Reckoning' from 1970, which is worth a viewing, and the much more famous 'Get Carter' from 1971. Both feature "wronged men" who have returned to their grimy, Northern, working class hometowns after close relatives have died suspiciously. Both men exact retribution by doing what a man's gotta do, while taking time out to bed local women along the way. The main difference is that Nicol Williamson in 'The Reckoning' is a nerdy looking business executive, admittedly one who would sell his sister to get to the top of the corporate tree, while Michael Caine's Carter is already from a criminal background. Spoiler: One of the two men goes on to thrive in his chosen career, and if you've seen the ending of Get Carter, you'll know what I mean.

I like Nicol Williamson, I fancy watching 'The Reckoning.'

Rocky and Rocky II are very similar.

Sylvester Stallone as a heavyweight boxer, fights for the world title at the end.
