Maybe someone who has paid more attention than me could answer, but watching IM1 the other day and the terrorist group that Obadiah Stane hired to kill Tony and then get the MK1 armour from the desert were the 10 Rings.

Was this originally meant to lead to something bigger for the Mandarin?
That’s what I assumed when the film was first released.
There is a DVD extra after IM 3 which suggests there is a real Manderin still out there. His followers threaten Ben Kingsley in prison.
I doubt we’ll see the Ten Rings again in the main MCU. The comedy reveal that the Manderin was “Tony Slattery” is too firmly wedged in audience minds.

Feig (and other producers) like to keep 'windows' open. SO something will be seeded early, and if it is to be used in a story later, it can be. SOme are just easter eggs, some turn out to be nice early plants. Depends where the story goes.
For example, Civil war wasn't going to be the next film, but that BvS started pre=production, and boom, Civil war got fastracked.
So, it's possible that we could see the Mandarin, if RDJ fancies a nice send off for IM (if the Avengers 4 doesn't do that), or it might never be brought up again.
With the new Disney+ channel, it's possible we could see a lot of strands re-emerge
I'd quite like the see the Master, seeded from the Incredible Hulk film

I've just found that, thanks biggrin

Nice little nod to the fans that were annoyed with the Character in the film.

Very good. Although it would have worked better if he’d actually snapped his fingers.

While I’m on that topic, why did Thanos need to snap his fingers? When Gamora said he could wipe out half of all life with a snap of his fingers, I assumed that was a metaphor. I thought the idea of the infinity gauntlet was that he only needed to will something to happen and it would happen.
Still, it was an excellent climax to the film, so I’m not complaining.

It's never implied that he needs to, it's just a nice visual representation of how easy it is for him (both in the comic and in the movie).

He uses other powers from the stones without doing it.

Yeah, a nice visual reference. ALso, physical action helps to accentuate thought, and sometimes it's all subconscious neural pathway. Think about the enormity of the action, and then think when people really concentrate at6 video games (racing, 1ps) and lean into cornering, even though they're not moving, or shifting a heavy weight, and tensing their face, or thinking of something and sticking their tongue out. Bodies/minds work in interesting ways.

anyone remember the famous It'll Be Alright On the Night clip?
Not one thing. biggrin

You’re quite right. I don’t even know why I raised the question.

I did look! It's a famous (I guess famous when I was a kid) clip of an actor (think it's an advert) having to say, 'not one thing' (I may even have that wrong) and he cannot disassociate shaking his head from saying the phrase, take after take, the director starts losing his temper. biggrin

I haven’t found the clip you are referring to, but I have just spent far too much time watching YouTube clips of Denis Norden.
biggrin

Was talking about this with friends when we went to see Captain Marvel, they never dropped using his script.

I think it is the right move.

I think it's the right move too. Makes me wonder if the loyalty of his actors had an effect, or the SUicide Squad 2 job... ?

Like many things a combination of things I'm sure - I am guessing they wanted to keep his script, Taika Waititi turned them down, and I wonder if a few others did on the quiet as they wanted more creative input?, as you say the actors wanted to work with him, and maybe they ran some focus groups and looked at the optics of this kind of stuff generally and found that more people were on James Gunn's side.

To be fair to James, I think he has gone a good job of seeming contrite, he hasn't been going after them in the press from what I have seen (though I don't look for this kind of stuff anyway).

I knew Grace would have a great video ojn this. Makes me think though, Bautista's strong stand, doesn't seem all that impressive now. The whole thing was a work, not a shoot! Their big mistake is allowing that fact to be known.

Iron-Man 3 on tonight, and possibly, it was Shane Black that opened the door for James Gunn?
