It looks intriguing, with possible promise. Has definitely piqued my interest.
But I still haven't shaken the feeling of apathy I had after season 2. Time will tell I guess. I'll try this for definite, but suspect I could go either way if I begin to question this in the slightest. (Probably not helped by the fact I've not seen Aaron Paul on screen in a role where I can tolerate him yet.)

OK, so...I watched that expecting to be mildly disappointed/apathetic as above, but it pulled me back in, just when I thought I was out. Damn them!
They played a trick on series 1, it worked, tried to do it in series 2, didn't quite pull it off, something was missing and they were too clever by half. So now we've had a yuge break...I hope they've sorted themselves out. They can't oull the same trick three times...unless they are writers of thebest quality, it needs something extra, something special like BSG had, not sure if true intelligence of robots can be it. Anyone recall Wayward Pines? THey pulled a trick in the first series, which on the face of it they couldn't pull in series 2, but they did, and for me, it got even better, at the end of S2, and then it was cancelled, worst cancellation mistake since Dollhouse.
From the looks of things Westworld has the chance to level up a few places and metamorphose like Wayward Lines/Dollhouse did into something new.

I wondered that and then thought "do I really want to?!". Youtube has "S2 deciphered" vids - think I'll stick to 1 of those
They really, really do help. I watched Preston Jacobs ones...unfortunately when the lays out the 'plot' it's too easy to dismiss it all as little of it makes sense. It has the feel of something that changed direction heavily at some point in it.Halb said:

I agree. I suspect they focused more on trying to out think all the internet bods trying to work out what was going on than staying true to what they were trying to create. S2 jumped around all over the place so much the story stopped feeling a natural telling.Westworld seems such a mess now.
I am probably in a minority but I enjoyed it when it was more cerebral. There was some incredible thought provoking dialogue in the first season, delivered by Hopkins no less. This scene in particular really left an impression. The parallels with nascent AI development were stark too, you could believe that this might be a possible future.
In season 2 the writers disappeared up their own arse trying to sidestep the Reddit theorycrafting crowd and the result was an incoherent, inconsistent, contradictory mess.
I'm sure season 3 will be entertaining, but it's lost a lot of its charm I think.

Interestingly imdb ratings are much higher than I would have expected given the overall feedback I have seen on here.
We are watching S2 at the mo. I have found it confusing at times but generally it has made sense to me and I have enjoyed it. Maybe it is because I don't over think plots or try to second guess them too much, surprisingly my husband has struggled more with it and he is usually amazing at rembering side plots, twists etc
