The Wicker Man (again I know) but the Horror channel is showing the longest cut with all the added scenes.

I did not know there was a longer cut!
There are quite a few different cuts. The original film, the theatrical cut is 87 mins long, this version is a longer 92 minute film (called the Final cut) and starts not with the plane taking off intro but with Howie in church, singing and then giving a speech, there are also other scenes with Lord Summerisle appearing earlier on the first night bringing a young man who has come of age to Willow. This is after Howie has been out that evening and instead of a a single naked women crying on a grave and a couple of others there are more people having sex around the village.

One of the scenes here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXzFjLaakYg man with the black curly hair singing is Paul Giovanni who composed and performed the music on the film.

Middle one on here was the one shown - http://www.steve-p.org/wm/Wicker%20Man%20versions%...

Still not the longer directors cut though, on the Directors cut it's 6 minutes before the flight out to Summerisle and the usual short film start position.

Train to Busan - 8.5/10

Loved this, super tense, superbly well made and manages to somehow be entirely devoid of gore whilst at the same time feeling quite gorey, very clever.

Awaiting the inevitable Hollywood remake but as is often the case, there is no need, this works perfectly as it is.
Great film - even watching it in the original Korean without dubbing or subtitles it was ace.

Watched Predestination on Film 4 last night - bonkers noir time travel movie in which our hero messes about with time to have a relationship with him/herself, impregnate himself with a child which turn out to be himself, whilst also kidnapping himself, breaking up the relationship with himself and ultimately killing the bad guy (surprise surprise, it's himself) . Compelling while watching, but a bit silly in retrospect. A gloomy 6/10.

Drew: The Man Behind the Poster

Wonderful view into a man responsible for some of the most iconic images of the past 30 years. ALso at the end a nice insight into why films are so st nowadays.

The Hatton Garden Job

Was hoping for a good British crime caper, kind of like The Bank Job, and it tried to be, but it was all a bit meh - still worth watching through to the end, but it was just missing something. 6/10.

Dark City

I've been meaning to watch this for a while, as it's always mentioned in talk of Dieselpunk and the like.

What an odd film.

Finally been able to catch up to a few old releases
Mortdecai, which was out, I think 2014 or 15. Smashing good time old bean, really.
JD was superb as charming mustachioed art dealer, as were supporting cast.
Kicks- I think its an indie film, randomly decided to watch it after seeing it pop up on a youtube trailer advert, about a poor kid who buys some air jordans that then get stolen and he goes on a mission to get them back. Nice film, nothing memorable though.
Teen titans, judas contract- Always enjoy some DC animation. I'm not sure if it was the "teen" aspect so the writers thought it would be funny to include, but there are many sexual references.
Assassins Creed- Hearing bad things about this when it came out, I avoided for a while but ended up watching it with the lads on a quiet night. Not bad, fighting and parkour were good but as a fan of the games, I was expecting a, basically, film version of the first game, when I found it was a stand alone piece it seems to be fine.

Saw john wick for the first time ever today and I have to say it was brilliant. Didn't know what it was about beforehand which helped. Not much of a plot but didn't stop from enjoying the film.

I recall enjoying this very much. I love altered reality films. Not a hit, so maybe it missed a few beats, I'd have to rewatch again to see.

F&F 8

6/10

It only scored as high as that as Charlize Theron was in it, plus the British lass is fit too (not Helen Mirren, t'other one wink ).
I wasn't expecting much. Loads of cars. Guns. CGI. Fights. It covered those.

Some long haul flights next month (FRA-EZE-FRA) and (FRA-TPA-FRA) so I'm sure the list of fillums will be added to.

High Rise - dystopian vision of an immoral and hierarchical society, represented by which floor on a tower block you live, although curiously set (cars, clothes) in the 70s.

Started off interestingly arty, got increasingly weird and grating - so much so I gave up 3/4 through. Shame as it was an interesting premise and a good cast, it just pummeled the viewer with its over-the-top artiness and violence so it got a bit tiring.

I never bail on a film I start.... but I wish I had with that film...
I stuck with it mainly because of the directors previous films, Kill List and Sightseers. Loved Sightseers.
But yeah, High Rise just got too strange for it's own good....

Officially I fwded through the last 20 minutes as I don't bail either, some OCD film thing - and as a result have persevered with some utter ste in the past

I'm thinking of watching City of Lost Children next, which I expect will be a whole new level of oddness on from Dark City. smile

BTW, I did enjoy Dark City.

Get Out - Watched it over the weekend, not a very long film so it flows quite quickly. I thought Daniel Kaluuya was brilliant regardless of what Mr L. Jackson thought about using a british actor!

9/10 for me.

Well just watched Guardians of the Galaxy pt1 again as part of the GotG pt2 double bill at the local flea pit.

Still really enjoyed it. Nearly the perfect blockbuster (& the first few minutes still pack an emotional punch).

Hope pt2 is as good as it should be
