Netflix... The life of John MacAfee the Antivirus guru. Holy st ( and you will see what I mean if you watch it) this man is just out of control.
Is this the documentary called Gringo: The Dangerous Life of John McAfee? Its the only documentary I can find on there?

Not heard of life, I fancy it now.
It's good fun with a great cast. It's full of incredibly stupid crew decisions (much like Covenant) but it's a standalone film without any baggage, and most importantly it isn't attempting to make a mess of a well-loved franchise.

Hardly anyone watched it at the cinema so it disappeared quite quickly. I imagine it will be out to rent on streaming sites in a couple of months.
Watched Life yesterday and found it quite disappointing and much like Covenant the ending was soooooo predictable.
We just watched space squid and thought that it was a good film to kill a couple of hours to. Lost count of the times we shouted 'don't do that you dhead' and 'it's going to eat your face' at the telly, so we were obviously quite engrossed by it hehe
Just watched Life.

Luckily we only streamed it. Hadn't heard of it and watched based on a very short synopsis.

The ended was so so predictable.... it was telegraphed from a million miles away.

The rest was just not very good.

Soundtrack was immersive though.

5/10.

Suicide Squad
I just don't know. It passed two hours quite reasonably, the cast were good (especially HQ) the characters fine, except for Joker who was rubbish. The action was convincing and the plot was straightforward and consistent in it's own world. I liked the soundtrack as well.
It just felt a bit flat.
It felt both rushed and dragged out. Normally in this type of thing the heros get a couple of warm up missions before being dumped into the the finale prior to the inevitable betrayal by one of their own. There was no peril, no shocks the baddies were too good.
Joker felt like a tagged on extra as did Batman.
I'll give it 6.5 as it kept me entertained.

Despite being telegraphed the ending made no sense whatsoever to me. How did they suddenly end up in that situation? Otherwise I thought it was pretty average - 6/10

The mummy

The very definition of average.

Not remarkable in anyway, but nether the less thoroughly competent.

John Wick 2

Silly... as expected (to be fair).

Not as good as 1, and the dog isn't as good either.

We watched that last night and we also preferred the first one a lot more, I love action movies but I just thought it was far too over the top.

There wasn't a lot to add to the first John Wick.

This weekend I bought and watched Watchmen on DVD, though I have seen it before. Dr Manhatten's retreat from humanity is well played, and Rorschach is genuinely excellent, but it isn't as good a film as it was a graphic novel. Two-nothing. Your move.

A bad run of films for us recently. frown

Star Trek Beyond
They did well casting this bunch for the Star Trek reboot but nevertheless, this is a terrible film. It just lurches from one event to another with no real logic or sense. I was very surprised to see it was written by Simon Pegg when he seems to have such a good understanding of film.

Absolutely Fabulous
No redeeming qualities whatsoever. Even Joanna Lumley and Kathy Burke can't save it.

Wonder Woman - enjoyable but nothing special, not as good as some reviews made out, Gal Gardot watchable 5/10

Gold - Matthew McConnaughey plays a gold prospector, really enjoyed it 8/10

Fairly sure he was a last-minute replacement for somebody as the writer and had next to no time to finish the job, hence the clumsy end-product.

I'm sure Google will confirm/deny.

Kubo and the two strings. Which I hadn't heard of before my daughter got me to watch it.

Really good. Very different for most stuff; love the origami and way it tells the story, it has a mystical quality to the story telling.

A fascinating insight into entertainment in 1980s Russia but, as said, probably not what you meant to link to.

La La Land - on DVD.
Wife had a bit of a stressful week at work, so thought it might help her unwind, which it did.
I enjoyed it too, even though I'm not a fan of musicals. Cinematography was excellent and the plot wasn't as limp as I expected.
