Baby Driver is NOT a musical but a film with a very full soundtrack. That doesn't make it a musical ...The acting , Spacey etc, was spot on. Like many , I enjoyed it because I thought it was a cracking good film, not because of hype - which seems to be the usual lazy accusation made against anybody who holds a different view to your own.
If anything the music was one of the characters, I liked the way the music was used by Baby to get him in the 'zone' for the job in hand; however I did think the bits in between were a bit lacklustre, the film started off fantastically with the Subaru scene, but failed to maintain the pace, although the walking to get coffee part was very clever with the interplay of music.

I meant that he was just "being Spacey" instead of acting. Almost any older name actor could have done that performance. Whereas, were Spacey at his best, you know that no other actor could have come close (Usual Suspects, etc).

And the abrupt change of his character's personality at the end was daft,

IMHO. YMMV. Etc

Blade runner - I swear you could frame any moment on that film and the picture would be classed as art, incredible visuals and style, I don't think I've ever seen such beautiful scenes in a film.

10/10 for sci-fi genre, but 8/10 as a general film - it went just too long and as someone commented earlier, it was like they only paid for 2 day's worth of acting with Harrison Ford so had to cram a lot in at the end.

(I am going to see it again in the cinema thou)

I really enjoyed it, as did Spacey according to his interviews. Personally I really liked the use of music to set the pace of the film and the opening 6 minute sequence was great. Each to their own though.

OK I'll admit it , we watched "Baywatch" on Saturday , to my total surprise it was quite entertaining , very silly and most of the cast thought so as well so it wasn't to be taken seriously. Yes its stupid but it has its moments
Watched this last night, agree with you, some bits had me rolling with laughter.

Goon - Old ice hockey film about a stupid young guy who becomes an enforcer i.e. a player that fights more than plays. Brain out fun. 7/10

Blade Runner 2049

Very good sequel. Very slow paced.

If you like to spend 15 minutes watching someone explore an empty hotel this is for you.

I prefer it to the original as despite its length it's actually not as boring. They took the decision to add a story and give the protagonist an arc. There is also a detective story in there too. Something else the original lacked.

Visually peerless. It's production design is outstanding with even the smallest details well thought out.

It's too long though (I seem to always say that) I appreciate the world an atmosphere building, but there is a lot in there that doesn't add very much.

I look forward to the completion of the trilogy in 2077.
Beautifully put and I couldn’t have said it better; saw it last night and loved it, but I can understand why some people don’t get it. I await with eagerness to see “water-infused light panels” make it onto a Grand Designs hehe

Btw, do you know what worse than sitting next to someone who constantly talks in the cinema? Someone who has a hole in their teeth and whistled every time he used the letter s smash kept checking his phone as well the cretin; luckily he got up and left halfway through.

They made a second this year, not watched it yet but I remember quite liking the first, so I'll probably give it a go.

Finally got round to watching a couple of films I'd intended to see for a while at weekend::

Captain Phillips - Well-acted and well-shot, but it didn't really leave much of an impression - I didn't really feel any particular empathy or affinity with any character, although I thought it was important that some background was given to the pirates and why they were doing what they were doing. Shame that Catherine Keener was only in the film for such a brief time. 7/10
Sicario - Fantastic performance by Benicio Del Toro, and it's always nive to see Emily Blunt, but her character was a bit too naive I think. Great film, although understandably cynical and I thought Josh Brolin's character was hilarious!

I loved it. The entire cast were excellent, I thought, but Sylvia Hoeks was simply superb as "Luv". She put on 16lbs of muscle for the part. "The Kick" was quite remarkable. A memorable performance.

I didn't actually see the original until relatively recently and it actually freaked me out as Sean Young was the absolutely spitting image of an ex. Even the way she moved etc... It was the weirdest experience.
