Films I watched this week
Discussion
more taut than taught I thought but I watched it tonight
low budget and reminiscent of Locke as most of it is set in the front of a car
some annoying bits if a motorbike is behind your bumper and shooting at you slam on your bikes thicko, if its parallel steer into it, and you are supposedly a champion getaway driver
6/10 anywhere other than PH, a 7 here

Jaws
Great great film despite Bruce's hammy performance. However we saw it at the Royal Albert Hall with a live orchestra. It was sensational. The obvious "dur dur" was what you'd expect and you end up focusing on the strings but as the film has very little music compared to modern films when there is incidental music, when the town starts becoming busy for the 4th of July for example, it takes a moment to realise that the music is being performed right in front of you.
They have a few films left: Harry Potter and a couple of Star Treks. Link
The Southbank Centre are in on the act too and have ET, Beauty and the Beast and 2001: a Space Odyssey (which I have tickets for). Link
I cannot recommend it highly enough, it's well worth it as a different cinema experience and if you want to see Jaws with the live score it's touring. Bigger Boat etc.
I did this too. Fantastic evening. Especially when people clapped and cheered when the shark blows up. Great atmosphere and sound. Would do it again. I went to Jurassic Park at the Royal Albert Hall last year, hands down the best ‘cinema’ experience I’ve ever had.
That was with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra which seemed to bump the price up and quickly sold out, but I think most of the others have been fairly accessible.
It's firmly in the 'not cheap but great value' category of evenings out. That was with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra which seemed to bump the price up and quickly sold out, but I think most of the others have been fairly accessible.
Murder On The Orient Express. Kenneth Branagh directs and stars as Hercule Poirot in this classic Murder/Mystery. . Lots of well known stars in it such as Judi Dench, Michelle Pfeiffer, Olivia Colman and Daisy Ridley. It was very enjoyable and a decent watch but I preferred the 1974 version with Albert Finney in the Poirot role.

Lazy dictation and lazily didn't check. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Thanks for pointing it out though.Having had a lifetime of motorcycling mostly in London the scene with the motorcycle was a bit disappointing.
It is impossible to travel fast on wet roads one-handed while firing a weapon.
Apart from that, I loved the claustrophobic feel of the filming as mentioned above it really gave the film tension.

Would you like to know? Quickmoose said:
how you know the bit in bold.... is it knowledge of physics, or experience of firing guns whilst riding a motorbike on wet roads...
I thought that's what you meant. Now, that is a question.I can definitely say that riding a motorcycle fast on wet greasy London roads is impossible.
As to my experience of firing guns while riding , that is a silly question knowing England's gun laws.
I have obviously only used a lance to spear any getaway drivers that annoyed me. That works for me as it doesn't draw as much attention as gunfire.
HTH.

Thank you
I thought you may have been a member of an armed response unit or of a dark underworld organisation that ignores UK gun laws.
If I was, I wouldn't be telling you I thought you may have been a member of an armed response unit or of a dark underworld organisation that ignores UK gun laws.
Sadly, I must leave this informative circle and go and have a coffee and a piece of cake with my son. Someone has to do it.

Jaws <<at the Albert Hall>>
I did this too. Fantastic evening. Especially when people clapped and cheered when the shark blows up. Great atmosphere and sound. Would do it again. Bizarrely, people started leaving as soon as the credits started rolling as if they were in the cinema but the orchestra was still playing!

You would have to fire left handed to maintain the throttle but then you have no clutch so either jolt between gears or ride very slowly. I think the kickback might affect your control of the bike, somehow. All guesses, naturally.I thought you may have been a member of an armed response unit or of a dark underworld organisation that ignores UK gun laws.
