There is the TVplayer App which you can install onto the Firestick which allows streaming of most of the uk freeview channels and has a catch-up section. https://tvplayer.com/apps and also a paid contect optio which you can trial.
Cheers - I'll check that out when I get back home later.Emeye said:
Also, have a look at a Youview box - that allows you to look over 7 days and either record or download the TV programmes that are available to download On demand. You can buy a secondhand box for about £50 but it will not have wireless built in. https://www.youview.com/
We currently have the BT/Youview box, and was hoping that the firestick could replace it, but I can see that they serve very different functions. So back on topic - time to search from some decent TV series once I learn how to browse all available content!

I don't know if it's a gem or not, but I, Daniel Blake is now available. Looking forward to watching it.
'Some' in here consider it socialist propaganda. Actually it's what is happening. Sad but true. Well documented, and well worth a watch. No balance AT ALL.
If you're going to explore the subject matter, which is certainly worthy of exploration, at least do so credibly or you'll actually undermine the issues.
I've been watching the Rush Hour TV series. I wasn't expecting to like it because I loved the movies back in the day and copies always seem to be disappointing. But I really enjoyed this.
The characters are still the same and it plays out like a usual cop drama (different crime each episode, but with a longer theme crime throughout the series), and if anything feels a little fast like each episode could be an extra 15 minutes long or so.
I liked all the actors in it, it was strange at first having a tall Lee and short Carter but it became a joke throughout the series. The only thing that annoyed me was every time Lee did a jump over something, they had to put it in slow motion with a whoosh sound unnecessarily.

Might give this a watch used to love the movies. The characters are still the same and it plays out like a usual cop drama (different crime each episode, but with a longer theme crime throughout the series), and if anything feels a little fast like each episode could be an extra 15 minutes long or so.

May have already been mentioned but I watched the American Playboy series this week about Hefner and the growth of the business from the start. Maybe a couple of episodes too long but recommended. Interesting to see the evolution of the Playboy brand, society's attitudes. Naked ladies too, if you haven't figured out how to find them on the internet yet.
Maybe a repost but "April and the Extraordinary World". Elegantly animated, alternative reality with steam punk overtones. Adventure story and quite dark in places. In French, with subtitles. Watched it a while ago with my kids and they were glued to it. I thought it was excellent .Ever Imagined what would have happened if the world had to rely on burning coal and wood for fuel?

Absolutely terrible acting and writing.
We are talking about the same film are we... the one that won the BAFTA for the Outstanding British film of the year? Oh and the lead actor won British Independent Film Award for best actor and Palme d'Or at Cannes Film Festival?
But then, what do they know about acting?
Well, I hardly think citing a luvvies luvin of luvvie-in-chief Mr Loach is a "introducing balance" but hey ho...
Question; do you really recognise these virtuous and illtreated characters as typical benefits claimants? Or the portrayal of government agency employees as perpetrators of evil with relish?
I would suggest you leave your highland iddle and pop down the Glasgow job centre and hang out for a few hours. I can recommend a good dry cleaner to wash the spit and fag smoke out of your clothes!

The balance I felt was needed as the film has been widely praised, scores 7.9 on imdb and 85% on Rotten Tomatoes. Hardly 'luvvies' - in fact, film goers. This thread is useful (obviously) to let people know what has just come out on Amazon Prime and might be enjoyed. I suggested this might be such. I have no problem with you disliking it - it's your opinion. Just not the opinion of most who have viewed it, and not mine.Question; do you really recognise these virtuous and illtreated characters as typical benefits claimants? As for highland iddle, I was bought up on an inner city council estate that was just as rough as any in Glasgow. My best friend died of stab wounds when we were 16. So don't think, just because I escaped and live in the countryside, that I don't know how hard life can be on the breadline. I've had enough spit and fag smoke (and violence) to last me thanks.
Any chance of getting back to the purpose of the thread?
